I'm thinking of getting comprehensive insurance for the RS, and was wanting to know of peoples thoughts of different isurers, who to go and most importantly who to avoid.
I've been thinking of going with AAMI and doing the 'Skilled Drivers Course' which will give me a discount with them until I'm 25, I'm 22 in June. Going by AAMI's online quote it will cost approx $1400.
Shannon's isn't an option as they won't insure a car driven by someone under 25[:(!] Bloody idiots.

I see your in Mt Barker. I am with the RAA paying about $300 p/a full comp. I do admit that I am a little older, rating 1 with 2 cars and a house with them. Worth a shot though.

I wasn't really impressed with RAA when I was doing a quote for current insurance, all they asked for how many cylinders the car had where as Savings & Loans (my bank) asked me for what car it was, cheaper too.
I'd much rather have my car insured as a RS 2000 then a generic 4 cylinder car. But it may be different with comprehensive.

Simon, I ended up starting a new policy with AMMI.

Long story short, I had to start the new policy with standard(ish) car to and then could mod add details to my hearts content... It seems that to list all the mods at the start was too scary for them.[xo]

Was a very frustrating exercise, probably 10 or more phone calls and I have 5+ insurance notes here with incorrect details before they finally got it right. (MK1 2lt is not on their system and defaults to 1600gt)

You just have to get the right person on the end of the phone...'What's an escort????'

I tried getting a quote with RAA, but couldn't because I had spent more then $1500 on mods.

I'm with nrma vintage, told them about all the mods etc, couple hundred for 15K coverage.
I've got 4 cars with them so i get good discounts

A guy rang me up one day to check if my policys were ok and if the rs2000 goes alright [x2x] thought it was odd.

NRMA gets my vote. Less hassle and cheaper than Shannons

I have both Escorts with LSV but neither of them are daily drivers (both on CH plates)and we are both over 30.

Very good value, agreed value and wreck back should either be written off.
