Breaking the dipstick into the sump.

My dipstick is square off the last inlet manifold bolt.

What if I drilled a hole here? I have measured the dip stick tube & it will poke through about 1-2cms, the dipstick will be easy to get at & if anything the angle will be closer to standard then if it came out behind. Also a neat hole would stop it wriggling around

On mine with the twins it stuck out behind the manifold, with the efi same deal just bend it make sure your tube is stuck in properly or you'll be the dipstick on the side of the road with an oil storm under the bonnet [B)]

From memory if you just spin it around the bend should be fine pointing backwards, wouldn't drill a hole...

something to watch is that heater hose over the extractors too with the heat it may drop down a bit and melt. Got mine under the extractors.

keep an eye on the booster hose too learn the hard way trying to tune twins with a leaking valve.

OK all sorted now, thanks everyone, its amazing how if you work on something for like a hole weekend & get stuck on a silly little thing near the end if you can just walk away for a few days it all just seams to fall into place
