hello

well me and the old man have been saving up and are about ready to get a 2 poster for the shed.
just curious on some opinions on what are good brands/stay clear of. price wise we are looking at around 3.5k. needs to be a clear the floor hoist. been looking at some cheaper ones but the max lift height is 1700mm. probably a bit low as im on the taller side. i use molnars at work which are 1900mm and i have them set to max height when under. although 1800 would still work for me

any suggestions would be great.

We have a bendpak in the shed at home, excellent hoist and well worth the dollars but you will be looking at closer to $5000 for a big one. All depends what you want to lift tho.

mainly smaller cars. 3 tonne would be more than enough. most new ones we have been looking at are 4 tonne

Molnars are good value for light vehicles. I think the factory is in SA too if I remember correctly.

I personally like the Tecalemit hoists. Built well and last forever with little maintenance.

One to steer clear of would be Formula but I don't think you can buy them new anymore.

My mate has bought a house in Albury Vic with a hoist that he wants to get rid of, i could fine out more if you are interested.

I have a Molnar at home (single phase), and one here at work (3 phase). Both work well with little maintenence required, however they are more expensive than other brands of similar build quality. I had a Tecalemit (from new 6 years)and will not go back there, suffice to say "don't buy a computer driven hoist'. I have recently put two Rotary brand hoists in at work, and after some initial switch failures seem quite good (time will tell). The hoist maintenence guy directed me that way as I was looking for similar quality to the Molnar, but they were around $2000 cheaper. They also have a neat feature of being assymetrical (the centre of the car is behind the posts) so you can open the doors whilst in the air. He also suggested for home use to buy a hoist from Radum for less than $3000. I have not had personal experience with Launch hoists, but the maintenence guy told me he would not come hback into my workshop if I'd bought one (and one of the local competitors had 1 fail just out of warranty).

be very vary of radum stuff, sure the cheaper stuff should be fine however how can you trust something that is going to be holding your car above you? my mates monaro shell alomst fell off one of their spits dues to failure of the actual spit! I know where my money would be going.

I have a tufflift clear floor 2 poster in my little shed. Cost me $3300 brand new installed, but not wired.

they are the same price single or 3 phase and the guys there were very helpful.

The only thing slightly annoying is there is a separate safety lock mechanism release on each side rather than a single release on a molnar.

Not worth buying a worn out second hand one for that price

I've seen a Radum car spit after it's held 2-3 shells and they are rubbish. They just aren't designed/manufactured well, and they bend and flex out of shape.

Interesting that a hoist technician recommends a Radum hoist for home use, has anybody else seen/used/bought one of these?
