Hi all a question for those in the know about wood. I am thinking of trying to get a pattern / program made for small ford door trim backs. On a capri these are flat masonite and are not side specific. I have some MK1 Escort ones which again use the flat masonite. Could the stripped backs be scanned and then masonite or other materials then be cut out CNC style? ( I was thinking perspex or similar so they dont warp / rot). Any thoughts or has this already been done

I'm sure a cheaper option would be profile cutting. I remember talking to a profile cutter and he said they can cut timber, plastic and even denim (apart from the usual alloy and steel products obviously).

Produce a DXF file and nominate your material and get it cut.

If you have the measurements I can draw it up and creae a DXF file if you can't do it?

Ok we're on the right track now. I'd need to get a card scanned so the clip holes and handle cut outs are in the right spots. I think I have a DXF file for the capri dash fascia so I could get a fw things made

Hey JR im in the process of getting it done now for a capri. we have 3 cnc routers and a lazer cutter., i was going to use what we call alupanel which is .5mm alloy panels with a plastic membrane between. it ends up about 4mm thick is light as and is not affected by water. i already have the dash facia and consol trims peices, that im about to start cutting on the lazer( thanks Bruce for the templates ) im sure it would be hard to do all the small ford. Where i used to work we used to get large shims cut out of plastic and very accurate wooden templates. This was from a place called advanced laser cutting in Perth, i think any decent place should be able to help.

I can cut anything you want up to 33mm thick on cnc aslong as you have the dimensions, Im currently trying to get dimensions for the windows on a mk1 to make them out of lexan. I have done ally door trims and 6 dial dash fascias. Im still to do a rear firewall panel for the mk1 aswell
