Hi Guys, is there any difference between the MK1 1600 GT and 1600 XL instrument clusters?

I do have a 1600GT instrument cluster which has speedo, tacho, oil pressure, volts, temp & fuel guage not sure what it is worth but I am sure we could work something out.

1600 GT and XL essentially the sae thing, dash is the same, I have some for sale

Maybe I should have also asked this question first.
What is involed in converting a deluxe instrument cluster to fitting a GT / XL cluster?
Is it a straight forward swap?

Is the wiring loom the same etc? ie did they use the same loom for a deluxe and a GT/XL?
I understand I would have to fit oil pressure sender. (Does anybody know what part number to order for a VDO or similar sender)
Is the temp sender the same?
Form memory (years ago) the tacho used to run of a looped wire in the back from feed from the coil.

You will probably have to add wires for the voltmeter, tacho and extra lighting. The oil pressure guage is mechanical and will need a take off from an oil gallery. Kits are available for this.
Simple and straightforward?
Get a wiring diagram from the factory manual and expand it to a3 size then study it till you understand what's going on then color in the wires that need adding.
