Hi all, can anyone suggest a glue type or way to attach internal rear view mirror to windscreen on my 72 Capri. I've tried a couple of e-tag 3M double sided type tapes but they can't take the weight. If anyone knows a suitable glue. The mirror base is metal. Cheers Paul.

Hi Paul
any car parts shop like Repco, Bursons or AutoBarn has the dedicated "internal RV Mirror glue" as used on XA Falcon onwards. Sometimes you can do just as well with "Industrial/Commercial Super Glue" which is fairly rare.
All Capris had their Mirror anchored by its "foot-plate to roof-anchor" at the edge of the ceiling where the screen meets the headlining, in case you want it to be original ?

I used the special glue from Repco, been on the screen for about 5 years and hasn't budged on the beautiful smooth roads of Far NQ- not! Len

Not true. 1972 had a different part number and were glued to the screen.

make sure you clean the mirror base really well.  I hold the metal part to screen with tape and leave to set overnight before attaching the mirror.

BTW, 1972 capris had a stick on mirror with sunvisors that swing left and right, they were ADR requirements

The original product was called loctite 312 guys, I used to sell it in the 70s pretty sure the repco product was a licensed distribution
