I have read a lot online about different door & window rubbers/kits, some crap, others not the right profile.
Is there a particular shop that has the best/most original ones?
 
How are the Yesterford ones compared to Burtons etc? Happy to keep the cash local of course.
 
 

I had to mix and match for my car 1970 model. Don't throw your old ones out until you have checked the profile against the new ones and check they are exactly the same. I bought a kit from one of the above suppliers and the rear window rubber bottom angle was absolutely nothing like the original (actually cut to the wrong angle it was terrible) It was never going to fit. But the rest of the kit was fine, go figure.
 

They say prevention's better than cure.  This is a case in point. 
 
 I thought Dad was a little pedantic/eccentric when he covered our 1957 FE wherever he went,  citing the sun and rain were the worst enemies of any car.
It's now 2020, and the FE has the same 1957 rubbers all round, which is unheard of. Yes, they are tired, but still seal. 
Body and paint were attended to by Dad and I, with new "Enamel" in 1970, just before Dad passed away. Paint is still like the day we painted it in 1970 !
 
IMHO................
Pre 1990 cars (never rust-proofed) cannot tolerate rain like modern cars which are hi-tech rust-proofed.
No pre 1990 car ever made can tolerate the sun.  Modern cars are better, but not sun-proof
I'm quite happy to be called eccentric/pedantic knowing my cars are being cared for. 5 minutes covering a car has to be better than fading, rust and deterioration, and un-necessary super-expensive remediation.

Mass production meant original seals HAD to be right since hundreds of thousands were made for each model.
Little wonder "repro" seals don't fit as well (not at all sometimes) since such small runs are made by lesser professionals than those who made ORIGINALS

Thanks mate, I have all the rubbers still. Looks like separate purchases might work best to get them as close as possible. I would hate to commit to a full rubber kit just to waste money.
I remember seeing door seals that were molded in the corners, unlike some which are just one long piece that you have to cut to suit.

CCI and East Kent Trimmers do mitred corner door rubbers, I don’t think anyone over here does them. I have bought front and rear screen rubbers from Phil’s Rotary but they did not fit properly very frustrating

Wouldnt it be possible to get coils of correct rubber profile (Clark Rubber?) and with the amazing glues available today, maybe make our own mitre joints ?

I got my inner door seal rubbers from Yesterford, correct profile, using a setsquare marked the correct angle, cut with aviation snips and got neat joints, but didn't glue them- would you use 2 pack epoxy?

2 pack epoxy might/will set hard and cause problems.......... I'm sure Local hardware or  Clark Rubber or Bunnings will know of a weather proof glue for rubber.  Silastic should work too ?

If not I will get the Yesterford ones and do it myself.

i had same prob with the back was cursing and swearing lol  had the mates pushing down on window etc just would not go on when i placed it against old rubber was no where near the same. after the 6 hr drama with the rear screen rubbers i didnt even attempt the front one  so  i sent them back cleaned the old ones that were still in good condition put them back in in 2 mins .
