BRAND NEW pairs of front brake calipers to suit the Escort MK1 and MK2, plus Capri All models, most likely Cortinas as well in fact all small Fords that use the M16 caliper.  These are NEW and at $200 per pair are cheaper than refurbishing your old ones.  These are standard fitment and will accept the spacer kits readilly available if you want to run vented disks.

This is a special price for forum members at $200 they are normally $225 per pair.  I have multiple sets available.  call me on  0409 091 252 cheers JR

Hi John
are these new calipers alloy, or silver coated CI ?......cheers

When fitting Vented Discs, wouldnt New Pads have to be thinned to fit vented discs since VD are much thicker ?

cheers, Bernie

Glen....
....by spacing, do you mean splitting the Caliper to insert a Spacer to cope with thicker Rotor ? Never seen that done before and I dont think thats what you mean, nor would it be legal.

Back to square one: Spacers between Caliper and Mount will not account for a thicker Rotor in relation to thickness of pads. The only way this can work is if the 2 Pistons have that "extra" travel back into their cylinder to cope with extra thickness of vented disc. Spacers are then used to "centralise" Caliper around New Thick Rotor.
Agreed ?

cheers.............Bernie

BEEVEE, you've sussed it out:- in your words
"....by spacing, do you mean splitting the Caliper to insert a Spacer to cope with thicker Rotor ? Never seen that done before and I dont think thats what you mean, nor would it be legal".

That's how you fit the gp1 vented discs to an Escort, Capri or any other vehicle. The spacer is machined to take another set of O-rings for sealing the fluid passageways  across the two halves. Certainly not illegal as many OEM calipers are designed this way to suit vented and solid disc applications within their range eg older 5 series BMW's for example, essentially the same caliper with & without the spacers to suit vented & solid discs. Aftermarket suppliers like HiSpec do this for various caliper fitments too in their current range.

Caliper spacer kits for the M16's come with the spacers, O-rings, longer bolts & usually longer pins to hold the pads.

Obviously this spacer type arrangement is only applicable to fixed calipers & is irrelevant for a sliding caliper.

Thanks SFE,

this is a "modification" from OEM, and as such is a "way out" for unscrupulous Insurance Coys in the event of a claim in an accident, the only exception being 1/ Engineer's Certificate with Approvals Certificates from Manufacturer of Calipers or Spacer Kits AND 2/ your disclosure to your Insurance Coy of said modifications, etc.
Call me a pedant or a worry-wart if you like, but I've seen too many cases of this exact scenario where Insurance
Coys have screwed people over leaving them high and dry and in more **** than a Werribee Duck.
"One drop of Caution can Avoid a Sea of Despair" (Einstein)
The more serious/expensive the Claim, the more determined Ins Coys will fight to weasel out of it; trust me.

If you were ordering your mk1 Escort RS from AVO back in the early 70's or gp1 options later on and ticked the gp1 vents box then that's what the Ford factory gave you- spaced out calipers & vented discs. = A factory OEM option. I'm guessing that a RS3100 Capri which will have vented discs will probably be the same, spaced caliper halves.
If you modify it these days then for sure run it by your engineer for assurance and disclose to your insurer for your own 'piece of mind'.
I can't remember what series, but for example 525 BMW's ran solid front discs, whereas the 535's ran vented with the same 4 piston caliper plus a spacer in the bridge to cater for the increased disc width. Common OEM practice.

stock genuine OE MK3 2.8i Capri calipers are M16s fitted with spacers.  My Australian delivered RS3100 has spaced calipers delivered new.  The calipers I have for sale are the same profile as stock and will take the spacers no issue

Sorry to keep this topic going.
But I am currently having a modified mk2 coupe engineered and my engineer will not except the spacer in my front calipers he says "it is not a legally allowed modification" so i either have to go back to stock disc or different caliper.
(currently running vented disc's)
