I am looking for a rust repair panel for the rear wheel arch on a Mk2 panel van. Are they the same as a Mk2 sedan or are they Mk1 like most of the other panels etc?
Also, has anybody tackled this job before? Got any tips to watch out for?

All help appreciated.

Cheers, Craig.

Haven't had a van for a while so not too sure of the profile, which part of the arch is stuffed? the lower part is easy to make at home, made the patches for top curves on my car at home too but it took a couple of goes, some swearing and heaps more 'tap tap tapping' to get right. Provided the steel behind is ok and clean, welding is pretty easy just do it in a series if spots, one solid bead will warp it. Tap down the weld, grind and it should be ok...
Cheers Drew...

When doing my panelvan rear arches i found they are wider than a sedan at the farthest point by about an inch , still to rear Sill. When my replacement mk1 arches arrived ,and after I'd welded the new sills in I noticed the difference. I've also got a mk2 van and they are same as mk1 van.
As for rust repairs of just do the localized area as Drewdog suggests unless doing a decent resto.

The exterior panels on van's have almost nothing in common with the sedans; the bonnet and front panel (probably) is about it. The wheel arches are definitely different.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I'm gonna have to investigate first by rubbing it back to bare the wounds.

I hope it is better underneath than it looks now.

Cheers, Craig.
