I know its a minor thing but like I said, it bugs me.

How does the battery hold down on a standard car?

I can see what looks like a "catch" on one end of the standard battery tray that seems to match up to a lip on my battery but what am I missing on the other end?

I can purchase a hold down kit from an auto store but then I have to drill a hole and I feally dont want to do that.

Its a 76 Escort Van MK2

Any advise?

Greasemeup,
There is a small plate that acts as a clamp and it bolts the battery down. No photo of one to show, sure someone will have one. It is just 'Z' shaped with a small slot hole.

Thanks Philh, thats awesome. I think even Burton sells a polished stainless one on their site that I had seen but didnt recognise as the required part.

I had a rad fan controller installed, they put it just in front of the battery beside the radiator and now I cant push the battery up towards the front anymore. Mods really have to be thought out fully I guess, as a result I have had to use an aftermarket kit modified to hold the battry away. Thanks everybody.
