Hey all,
Got a correct, clean and chip free front windscreen, not sure if its laminated or not, I thought they were marked under the safety glass logo? could be wrong..... if not any way of telling if it is? I've had one land in my lap before so if it's not laminated it's not going on......
Cheers Drew....

Check along the edge , should see a strip of plastic sandwiched between the inner and outer layer. From when i used to bust escorts up back in the early 90s i noticed mk2s between 75-77 that are less than a Ghia were safety screens. .ie turn into a billion cubes when popped , later cars and ghia was laminated , usually have a blue. . or now brown top band from sun damage. A new Lammy is avail from most Windscreen shops for about $130 ..

Cool thanks for that, went to the trouble of getting the ghia green tinted windows so would be nice to use the correct front one too, but its looking like just safety glass... oh well off to the windscreen shop
Cheers Drew....

I had my windscreen replaced as part of the roadworthy with a new laminated one.
Part of the replacement was a new windscreen rubber.
My word of caution-
The new rubber fit ok, however it was smaller, in that it covered less steel (radiating out from the glass {best description}) than the old one.
No big deal really, except that there is a line where the paint was covered up before, and exposed now.

Got the rubber from a mob out of Melbourne, cant remember the company name now, not rare spares.

Cheers for the heads up, I've got a solid RS one waiting to go in, windscreen was out for painting so shouldn't have a problem with faded paint. Ended up buying a new laminated screen, cheap as chips really, keeping the original as a shed ornament...........

Maybe the replacement windscreen itself may be smaller than the previous windscreen and not stretching the seal out far enough.
Easy fix is, from the outside of the car, to poke in a piece of insulated electrical cable between the edge of the windscreen and the seal to push the seal out further. Do this with the windscreen fitted. Do one edge of the screen at a time. Easy to remove if doesn't work.
