Have had my Pinto running on Twin 45 throttle bodies for 3 years now without a glitch. On the way home from SFS this year the car wanted to stall. I believe the fuel is vaporising as it seems to happen on hot days. For ease of installation when I setup the car, I mounted the surge tank next to the radiator in the engine bay. It is fed by the standard carby mechanical fuel pump. The swirl pot then feeds the high pressure bosch pump (mounted under the air filters) and then to the fuel rail. I think my problem is that the hot fuel never leaves the engine bay thus creating the problem. The car has done approx 10,000k's with this setup and has done it well but I am starting to lose faith in it's reliability.
I am looking to design a new fuel system and change the injection to sequential at the same time. I would like to run an in-tank fuel pump and possibly even a non-return system. Not sure if anyone has done anything like this so I am after information or ideas. I will be modifying one of the drop tanks I have to take some kind of swirl pot but I am not sure how it would seal or what fuel lines / connectors I would need. Would also like to fit up some kind of carbon cannister or purge line. Any ideas appreciated as I need to do something before summer comes back again.
