radiator is standard cortina with bottom outlet moved, just used the local radiator guy.

The engine mounts I made, the sump is retro ford and they are sh!t, no capcity on the cortina and not much better for the escort. On this job I used oilstat and oil cooler to up the capcity.

How about starter motors, what are people using? I've heard of a few options:

Standard pinto/xflow spaced out/flywheel machined; any issues with clearing the RF sump?

Buy one in from the UK? But I don't feel like being violated by Royal Mail again.

Any other options??

I think I have 1 starter left that is direct bolt up. I'll have a look.

Yes I have one left. Direct bolt up to silver top but ring gear needs to be moved for black top.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I also have 1 dcoe manifold, 1 set escort engine mounts, 1 raceline water rail and I also had exhaust flange plates cut.

I also have some semi complete silver top engines, 1.8 and 2.0 and a ready to assembly with all conversion parts ready to drop into an escort 2lt silver top that has new pistons, arp fasteners, kent cams cams springs followers and veriner pulley's, new valves, gaskets, water pump alternator etc. I was going to put this in my panel van however shannon's wrote it off after a very slight accident and wanted moon beams to buy it back.
I haven't finished the head (porting) but could supply a standard head, I started a 1.8 head to up the comp but could supply 1.8 or 2lt or finish the head I started.

I did a number of conversions for people a few years back hence the left over parts, the problem with doing years ago was the exchange rate so if your interested in any parts I'll give pricing but you should check what else is out there.

Thanks for the fast response.

I was under the impression that a standard pinto alternator could be used if you moved the ring gear or spaced it off the bellhousing or is it more about clearance around the sump? I'm guessing the starter you have is either a gear reduction Pinto or a DOHC sierra/granada starter from the uk. Would that be right?

I don't how many things it's off other than it's the same as pinto Transit. Pinto starter will fit silver top with spacer only, black top with black top flywheel would need ring gear moved and spacer.

Thanks for that, i'll give it a miss.

So everything is pretty much ready to go in; the current Xflow motor is running EDIS in preparation but i can't do the engine swap until i've regoed the car in May.

Which brings me to my question; since i've got a bit of time on my hands what budget modifications can be done to a 1.8 Blacktop Zetec running bike carbs and EDIS to extract a bit more power? Do the 2.0 cams fit/ offer any improvements?
