Thanks MM

Got the bolts from VPW: excellent service, turned up next day. Spigot bg off ebay, good price.

What is going on with my oil pick-up from Retroford? When bolted into place the support bracket ends up nowhere near anything is the wrong size to bolt to the main bearing cap. Have they sent the correct one???? Have i lost the plot???

My first pick up for my blacktop was from a silvertop kit which had to be modified. Slight bending to suit. Be forceful but not gunhoe..

Booton - can you post a pic of the whole pickup please - interested to see how it differs from the original (apart from rear bowl) as I want to know how deep their sump is above the Xmember area? If it is similar to the original then they have not taken full advantage of the clearance beneath the crank and windage tray. I'm hoping to get mine as low in the car as physically possible to aid bulkhead clearance etc.

My Zetec has additional fasteners to hold on the Windage tray (see below). Does yours have this as it would seem your pick-up is allowing for it?

Where's the oil splash guard? or is there a reason its not needed..

No worries marty!

I'm assuming there is a tapped hole in the main cap bolt which the stud screws into to secure the tray. I cannot see this on Booton's bolts - are they original or a replacement bolt?

Thanks for the pictures/input guys. It appears that the mains on the Blacktop motor aren't as deep and don't have provision for the oil splash guard since it is included in the 'girdle'. Going to check with Retroford to see if they have a solution before i 'adjust' anything.

The motor in the picture is original bolts everything just with the sump/girdle removed.

Paul, i'll get some dimensions off the sump tonight did you still need the engine mount info from your other post?

Yes please - if it's no trouble as I have a few conflicting measurements between what I have measered and previously supplied drawings.

Some more pics of the full pick-up

IMO the depth of the RF sump is 100mm not including the thickness of the gasket. 85mm or so is required for moving parts so i reckon it could be made more shallow if required.

Thanks.

looks like the RF pickup gives more clearance than the OEM item by using a right angle out of the pump rather than a bend.

I may need to come out and have the right angle turn towards the outside and then turn alongside the windage tray to aid sump clearance etc.

You don't need a Windage tray with the RF sump kit.
