See how in those two photos the teeth on the gear are really worn and you can see the deformation on the brass teeth? That's what you should be looking for / post photos so I can see. 

In the photos though reverse gear looks really rusty which is a bit of a concern. It also looks like your missing a synchro ring for 3rd /4th unless it's in that blue bucket there.

Yeah 1st / 2nd have had it, you can see the deformation on the brass and the wear on the engagement teeth. I think you'll be set with the list I posted above.

The only thing extra for piece of mind would be the 1st/2nd outer hub, if the gears are that worn chances this is too.

You could go the next step and replace 3rd/4th hub too, your call.

The bloke that runs bearing kits UK had a health scare so he has closed the website until July, you'll have to wait till then to order. I'm in the same boat waiting for my parts too.

Thank you Mark, i have was struggling to find someone so i managed to sell it.
at least it went to someone who was handy and will be rebuilding the box.. so another box saved.
 
 

What's your next move, Celica box, rx8 box, MX5 box ... I'm looking at a zf or getrag box from a BMW, cheap and Bullet proof ..

i found another T9 but in working order and ready to go

i would love an Mx5 but been told Australian versions are not strong

anything else would require fair bit of work to tunnel and bellhousing

An MX5 box will be stronger than a type 9 , MX5 has a 2.0 duratec and I've seen turbo versions with over 400bhp on stock gearbox.
Type 9 is a simple install tho, keeps things mostly Ford, lol, remember to use a Cortina TE Speedo cable as the drive is further back..

you probably talking about the 6 speed MX5 yeah? 
 
the 5 speed NA and NB i was told are weak.
