Theres a few K24s getting around now. Are they all k20 oil pump setups or dry sumps? Ive seen sumps modified for corrollas/BMWs and mx5s, surely someone as clever as yourself could make something up??
 
I'm sure you're all over it anyway. K24 courier would be fun though!

They must be using the k20 pump. Having hindsight I should've got the k20, I just wanted the biggest and for about the same price. I later found out from old mate Taff that they have a mid oil pump as to the k20 is at the front like Pinto. Making the sump mod is easy as it's made of tin, I could cheat by using a Pinto sump and offer it up then weld/braze them together.
With the 95 model courier , it's EFI I'll only keep the fuel lines, all else will be junked in favour of speeduino or a cheap used ecu . There's also no cross brace on courier just the front diff near the gearbox so it'll be almost a drop in conversion, just hope the box can handle the extra 100bhp, if not it'll be upgraded to a D40 6sp .
There's so much tuning and mods for the K series like alloy flywheels and looms for converting from the old B series etc . If I do decide turboing the K swap I bought a Volvo/Ford 5cyl turbo for it, not going for those chinee turbos, mine lasted 150kms before internally rattling apart lol , it did see 1 bar tho which amazed me !

Yesterday I picked up the last of the rust replacement panels (hopefully)
 
Was a long 3hr drive there then spent roughly 3hrs there removing 2 cars worth of sills and A pillars and footwell sections (with probably and hr of that chatting)
Also managed to get a bent bonnet for the slam section needed for my rust one.
 
Unfortunately the day ended up with me in emergency department. On the way home, my eye was irritating me. It progressively got worse to the point I went to hospital.  After a 4 hr wait, I finally got to see a doctor which found a metal piece in my eye. Nothing like the feeling of having to sit still, with a bright light in your eye whilst someone takes to it with a needle to hook things out.... and yes, i was wearing eye protection.
 
Anyway, i"m back off to hospital tomorrow, to get the rest of it out, fingers crossed there's no damage.
 
Will get some more pics up soon, then once ive recovered, will set about unpicking some more spot welds.

Extreme panel chaser lol
I hate metal in the eye and sometimes safety shades actually direct the sparks into the eye. I've had my fair share being in the metal industry most of my life. The last one I had 11 bits in one eye and going to a work place injury lab to get them scooped out, luckily the female gave me something to stare at while the digging went on. I think the numbing drops are worse than the digging but interesting when you can hear the probe dinging on the metal imbedded.
Anyway, if anyone gets sparks in the eye, best place to go is a Spec Savers apparently as they've got a registered eye doctor in shop and no waiting for hrs either . Good to get ur tetanus shot up to date too while there

Went back to the hospital, got the last of it out and cleaned up/scraped off the rusty bits
 
Not a pleasant experience and vision is still a bit blurred. I'm hoping that it comes good once things have settled down.
 
Have got the next few days off work so I'll sort out what I cut out and take some photos.

Bent bonnet for the slam section needed as mine had rusted out. Sort after chrome piece was a bonus.

I was offered anything I wanted.

Unfortunately I ran out of time and didn't really have the tools.

I do happen to be swinging by in a month (with the family and caravan in tow) so if they are still there, I may take the family for a detour and grab the handbrake cables/diff lever as spares for the wagon and my sedan. There wasn't much else that was left or that I needed

Sooo.... just when I thought the eye was better it got worse, rapidly.

Straight to the eye and ear hospital to find out it was infected. Had to have drops every hour during the day, and every 2 hrs at night for 48hrs. After that, I went back and infection gone however it's done some damage.

Off work for a bit on more drops for 2 weeks, then an eye test to see how bad things are.... oh well, could have been a lot worse.

In good news, I cheered myself up and finally bought a tig welder. Ended up with a unimig viper 180... was on sale at a price I couldn't refuse.

So today I started the rust repairs.

No particular order, was the easiest to get to in the shed. Probably the worst corner rust wise.

It'll need front sections of both sills and foot well/guards, both guards at headlights, both A pillars, both rear arches, passenger side vent, all doors need work, slam panel of bonnet and a few other bits here and there.

This is definitely going to be outside my comfort zone, however I'm always keen to give things a go.

Will post away and ask a few questions as I go.

What weld theough primer are people using these days, in the past I've just used a zinc primer however I'm sure there are better options?
