Haha there is still a long way to go Marty! I think end of next year it should be done.

Deano don't talk rubbish your van is sick!

Yeah deano, your doing a great job on your van , it's excellent 👍.
Mark I still am amazed at how arrow straight you RS is , those pics a few ago of the tyres and axle being a few mm out comparison....I didn't know what I was looking at for the flat glossy quarter panel and reflection off the roller door, had my eyes go all donkey trying to fathom it...!

Haha thanks Marty, the body has a few hours in it that's for sure

Between Xmas, work travel and the inlaws being here it's been super busy so haven't had much of a chance to get out in the garage, the master cylinder remains bare and the front brake lines still need plated. I also need to pick up some round bar to chuck in the rear saddles... Lots to get on with and next to no time to do it right now.

All that aside though I am now an offical member of the 3D printer club! I'm currently printing some Warhammer Terrain for my brother to learn how the printer works, then it will be on to blender to learn how to design my own stuff!

It's an Elegoo Centuri Carbon, and so far it's been a breeze to use. Looking forward to diving into more stuff!

Welcome to the 3D printer club Mark, hope you'll have lots of fun and creative stuff you can make .yes they are easy these days just find a file and either Wi-Fi or SD card it to the printer and let it do it's thing . Mine can do both but prefer SD card.
My printer exploded yesterday, accidently poked a screwdriver into the hot end fan and sheared off 3 blades which unbalanced it and ruined what I was printing. So have got 4x on order from Ali at the same price as 1 on eBay and postage time.
I sent deano a file the other day of a pinto intake manifold which we've both been working on, I finally cracked it and it's nearly set for printing after a bit of tidying up , all done on the tinkercad site. Fusion 360 is still a bit to absorb for me, blender is ok, gimp is another, there's so many to use these days, it's what your needs and complexity your wanting.
Funny thing, I've never done a benchy, it's usually the first thing everyone prints .

My benchy came out perfect !

This thing can print ABS and carbon infused filaments so looking forward to messing around with that, even though I already have an EFI sierra manifold I am going to have a punt at making a Pinto turbo manifold that can be printed, why the hell not hey? I think it will need to be printed in 7 - maybe 8 parts.

- Plenum
- 4 Runners
- two injector / head plates

Will mess about and see - gotta brush up on design skills first.

As long as you've mastered settings and supports etc, anything can be made if you have the time. I'm a bit weary if letting it print overnight just cause of fire risk and also if a fail happens you'll have a 5hr bird nest when you wake up!
I printed an ECU box in carbon petg and the print nozzle got bigger, forgot to swap out with a hard duty one. Carbon and night glow filament does erode the nozzle so if you start with a 0.4mm it'll be bored out larger by the friction. I print all my stuff with a 0.6 nozzle unless neatness is required .
I go to 0.4 or less but it takes so much longer.. Don't be afraid to trial different wall thickness and infill, also overlap% , I run at 20% instead of the usual 5% as it locks filament better.
Going back a couple years , Making For Motorsport on YT made an intake for his mini club race car in carbon ASA, it's still going strong and shows the full design and build etc.
Next you'll buy a 3d scanner and replicate anything you want !!

I'm now offically hooked, it's so much fun to mess about in tinkercad to design something and have it print out and see it come to life.

Check out my first ever car part - a MK2 escort bonnet cable retainer!

Thats just in PLA at the moment, I am going to buy some matt black ABS and make the final one, took about 5 versions to get it right. If anyone wants the STL let me know and I'll shoot it over!

Brilliant job Mark, might need to beef it up around the cable as it could be the weak point, also if printed on it's side it'll be stronger. ABS or petg will be plenty up for the task, Keep at it, we learn by our mistakes.
I'm on my 4th indicator cancel cam , I made it just to small in diameter it won't slide on the column. After seeing them for sale in UK for £20+ for printed part, I'll make my own for about 0.76c !!

I've got some PAHT-CF on the way to try, apparently the thing to do is anneal the parts in an oven at 100c for a few hours after printing for full layer bonding and strength and will make prints pressure resistant and water tight. I need to figure out or buy a drying system too.

I have been playing around with the inlet manifold and this is what I have so far. It's two piece but i've designed it to bolt together in the middle at the plenum base plate with a recess for a seal and where it will bolt to an injector plate which I've still got to design.

Also velocity stacks because why the hell not! I managed to find an STL for the bolt pattern for a Skunk2 honda plenum, so that's what you're looking at there.

Still learning the software side of things but it's been a fun couple of days designing this and printing out small parts of it to make sure things line up with the ports on the head and bolt holes etc. Next step would be to print the whole design in one go - will be doing that on the weekend!

I've got a real skunk Honda K swap intake if you want any measurements from it. That paht cf has gotta cost a small fortune, you'll be wanting 2kgs or more to make an intake at a guess
I spent most of today designing drag chains and gantry mounts for my printer as it's messy and agriculturally modified ! Sometimes you need to print a thin skin version or part to test size and angles etc. I'm still learning but getting way better and quicker by the day to design, just ask Deano about the pinto intake I got almost finished after 2yrs of stalled attempts. Early on with our builds we decided to go with speeduino and bike itbs at a later stage
