Hi All,
Recently I (foolishly ) pulled out my dipstick tube, now a bit sloppy, can't position it to stop the dipstick from rattling as it is making contact with the crank. haven't seen an original to know if mine has been modified ie bent to a different shape. apparently there is not much leeway. has any one got spares.??
If I get really stuck if I have a spare dipstick I can cut it down and at least plug the tube to stop oil going everywhere until I get another tube if required.  any leads appreciated.  Do other Pinto owners have the same problem??
Cheers, Len

I used to lightly flare the bottom of the tube and hammer it in good and tight, if it's still loose I run a bead of mastic around the bottom. they normally have a bend about half way up and leans at the rear outward of no4 cyl from memory. If it's a rattler you can Tig a standoff to the intake(or hose clamp it)

Hi All,
Ended up getting a bit of solder brazed on to it, carefully filed it down and got it gently hammered back into the block, now rock steady. Got new gaskets put through the Holley and the inlet manifold, cleaned and painted the engine block and tappet cover ( the reason I pulled the dipstick ) which sorted the air leak problem I had been grappling with. Back running sweet again. Cheers, Len
