Must've had a leaner on production line to do a stuff up like this... The pointy end was belted down and mig'd to be as strong as the opposite side which is seated correctly..
Wrong..

Correct..

Well that was fun...I swapped out both sides front lower arm bushes on my Focus ST, the front bush is now neoprene type and the rear front bush is a factory rubber type. This is the rear bush for the front arm after 145k kms, it has been slowly getting worse but from last week it was knocking real bad . I was going take more pics but my fone was being the music box during the job.

Just thort to relay this across as many modern cars don't send road feedback to the driver as the old cars did, modern people are getting lazy and relying on scheduled servicing to find(maybe) problems . Plenty of new drivers don't know how to pop the bonnet let alone do a routine service or repair... Anywho enough ranting, I'll be back into the coup this week with more rustages !!

Yep Marty, that's rooted!
I have often wondered why the new cars do not 'send road feedback to the driver'. I presume its the complexity of the linkages, dampening etc. I know every time I hop into the one of the toys I am sensitive to every squeak (numerous) and rattle (even more numerous) for the first few km's cause I'm waiting for something to fall off!

My theory is new cars are like a faraday cage, your immersed in the comfort and other such dash add ons and so unaware of what's going on out the window, do detached from reality lol.

As promised I gave the coup a nudge today, the first attack was to remove 8 layers of paint from the rear quarter panel, this was messy and dusty, I used the paint removing grinder wheel along with a flap wheel. Time it took was about 30mins !

Next pic is the gutter rail which is slightly giving me anxiety, I'll work that out when I get there, it's completely despatched at the front of the car..

This is the rear arch lower corner and fuel tank cavity , I've cut away the outer flat piece... Well it jumped off due to rust

And last job of the day was remove the back panel, the rotisserie cross bar made it a little harder but I got there . The replacement is from a car I wrecked prolly over 10yrs ago, time to use it up..

This old one was bent and rotten

A little bit more on the car this rvo, just cleaned and straightened the spot weld seams. I won't be welding the newer one on right away as the gap let's me work on other areas with easy access .
Plans for the spare wheel tub is completely remove it and fit a flat plate there instead. The spare will lay flat in the boot and the battery will live in the old spare wheel space...a bit TwinCam-ish ..

Good work Marty. More patience than me
Customising it like you are sounds good cause you can bend the rules to suit your mood.

I went and did a copy patch, for those who own Escorts will know this little piece, it's behind the back arch on the tank side outer flat. So I picked the cut piece out of the dusty pile on the floor and texta'd around it on to new sheet. Changed the dies on the bead roller and went for it.. This was a simple piece to copy, the part next to it looks more fun when I duplicate it to close enough..

On a side note unrelated to this build, I finally got an aluminum flywheel for the duratec to be going in the ute one day. It's weight is about 4kgs.

Are the Mk2 arches going to fit on your Mk1 though?
You can have one anytime, the other is going to be a while still ((was planning to do the rhs sills then floor then rear guards, in that order). (Plus I just found I have a hernia thats needing a few stiches, trying to get it sorted before CV closes electives off even further, so out of action 1+ weeks when I find someone who can sew/staple. Feels like your ex girlfriend is continually kneeing you in the kiwis))

Thanks for the link.
PM me you address if you want this one sooner but, and i'll chuck it on Startrack.

How do you get away with having a flywheel on the good chairs? :)
