Thanks Mark, going to be test my skill on the bumpers with chrome vinyl wrap soon once they're smoothed and have glassed in the hidden bolts, at least they'll give me a spot to make a jig so I can go heavy handed while installing the wrap. Maybe that can be a today job 😁

Have you tried any of the chrome paints recently?
(I meant to paint with, not chroming that the kids do :))
They seem to get mixed responses on the Yuo Tubes that pop up.

If it works, your going to chrome wrap everything. Chrome wrap on the extractors!

I have seen the chrome paint kit, that's more costly than the car itself, $600 for 200ml , yeah until it becomes to about $50 I'll keep away. Seen a bike crash helmet done in the stuff and it looked like a buffed mirror. I'll stay with the vinyl wrap for now...!

Had a bit of time to burn after posting off Marks boot latch. Trying to find a small job to do for the rvo, I grabbed the fglass front bumpers and trimmed off the excess, then a sanding to smooth the edges and also sand the faces to find the lows which got some filler to bring them up.
Once happy I moved to making the hidden mountings from M8 bolts and a piece of stainless plate offcut cut into 4 squares for each bolt then welded them to the bolts, after that I shaved back the heads so they don't poke out to far. Then it was try to replicate the inner shape of the bumper and then I used sika adhesive urethane. There should be enough to hold them on forever but I'll still glass a layer on for good measure , tomorrow I'll also prime them and hopefully with time permitting possibly attempt the chrome vinyl wrap after I've made a makeshift mounting jig to hold the bumper in place.

Looking good, not very many low spots to tackle - must have been a good mold! That sika stuff and the Selleys marine flex have never failed me in the past. Have you ever used the 3m panel bond stuff? Apparently that's what most euro stuff is held together with these days!

Yeah the mold was taken from a near perfect set off a panelvan in the 90s . The only filler is where the bolts would go thru as has the slightest indent.
With your boot lid key barrel dent , once you've had it repaired, the barrel has that lock spreader which most likely caused it, that can be removed or do some light filing to open the key hole more so it fits as it's meant to. The build up of paint caused it.

I haven't yet bought a tube of panel bond, I reckon it'll start to set in the tube before I use it all up , TVR uses that or similar on their cars plus Caterham. I've seen the thronged wonders of Vietnam stick a Camry back together with it. This sika stuff was bought to do seem sealing but has this gluing feature as well.

Just about ever time I go to use Sika for the boat, its solidified.
Ive had more luck with the smaller tubes with a screw on lid.

If you have a beer fridge, thats the place to store them apparently.

Yes, if the nozzle isn't sealed the whole tube can become a nolathane bush !
I have a tube that's survived 6 months so far, 2x nozzles as they do harden inside. The end of the nozzle has a cap that screws on lightly to save it from settings as best it can.

Went in the shed this morn to check strength of the sika glue and I nearly broke the bumper in half so no need for safety fglass. The bumpers got another final sanding with fine grade and I went straight to paint, no primer , done in super gloss black as it's good to see any imperfections. They aren't perfect but with a 2000 grit to flat off any dust lumps they should be fine. Painted with that mini spray gun again, can't believe a $8 gun can be so good!

Also while doing the bumpers I have a plan to copy mold a mk1 Escort 6dial fascia, don't panic this one is a MST reject I got for $90. I painted it in the same gloss black so when I pull a mold it should be as smooth as the part. Yes the mold will be used for my car but will be changing a thing out two .

Once done this part of it survived will be up for sale

Spent an hour or two in the rvo making a mounting jig for the bumpers , after over design to take both bumpers I realised I could use 1 set of hole mounts for both . Looking at the bumpers mounting bolts they are actually the same, my over thinking made the design complicated , anyways 2x holes is all that's needed.. Is simple and is clamped in the vice for short.

Tomorrow I will have a decent shot at vinyl wrap now that it's ready to do. Been watching a few vids on the stuff.

damn, I should send my pair back to the manuafacturer to get painted.!

If you want a laugh, the Eagle supercar  gets a wrap, outdoors, in the windy and on gravel.
Still turned out ok:
