see this is the kind of information that makes me sad that the forum may close, having confirmed parts that fit from other cars is a god send.

Regarding the Rav4 strut tops - the aftermarket ones yesterford supply change the ride height about the same amount so I think you're on to a winner, could be a good experiment to chuck a stock one in the other side and compare the measurements of the bearing/sleeve on each side.

well to be honest, I'm not terribly impressed by that.

Mainly because you know how much I spent on the vans Capri coil over front struts, GAZ inserts, alloy hubs, Cortina top Mounts, Capri 2.8 vented disks, M16 rebuild and spacer kit, all 'proper' from the normal suppliers, with UK fees etc. Then some anti establishment cowboy rolls in, with his lateral thinking, and does it all at 1/3rd of the price.... :)

I have a new WRC badge I was going to give you, but I think you need to find an Executive Edition one now instead.

Haha, you'll be alright !
Yeah I'm just finding different ways to do the same thing , nothing wrong there. When I did the orange mex , I did what you are doing but I went way further with stuff like Wilwood 285 brake kit, alloy rs belhousing, Quaife lsd, quick rack just to name a few.
I found this vid , I see everyone as the person on the left getting anxious and mad cause the other person has worked out to not follow what's the common method. All in good fun btw...

Today I'm making a anti-dive kit for the mk1 . I'll do a school lesson on this so if anyone wants to make 1 if you've got the metal spare, it'll be here to copy , measurements and all... all you really need to purchase are 3x swaybar double width mounts and bushes for your swaybar size.

There was a mk1 escort called Executive, basically a 1300gt with custom pack interior.. Mines a Corporate tho lol

Marty is going good there guys. I don't know if I would have the patience to research all this stuff though?
You now have a Ravscort Marty!

Seriously though, I am presuming the travel etc of the inserts is the main criteria of for you sourcing an alternate?
That's why I convert to coilovers nowadays as you get that choice of setting the platform height.

I just got lucky with the RAV4 towers, my other option was early Magna but with the minimal work needed on RAV4 ones they'll be my use from now on.
Correct with the inserts , they'll be about 30mm shorter so that means the tube will need cut and sectioned , as for height I'll either use MST springs left over from the yellow Lugger project or keep the original Capri springs. I'm also losing the spring platform height a little to help the ride height lowering.
The swaybar might stay 20mm which will give good turn in grip given how light the car is I doubt a 22mm will make much gains for road. Being a road car I don't want stiff suspension but also don't want sloppy factory either.

Making the anti dive kit from cutting up a 2.5mm thick 90x90mm , my copy version is 100mm wide, RHS box section. I used a plasma to cut the lengths , the full length is between 630-660mm and the wall height is about 20 to 25mm tall, there's no real exact height, it's what you're wanting it to look like.

Making where they go, it will pay to measure your cars own cars gap between bolt centres out your seat mounts

The model one has slotted mounting holes in case of and differences between bolts.
Next is measure the D shape mount bolt spacings which I came up with 25mm apart and 63mm deep for the double width mounts , holes are 11mm for the bolts of M10 . I've written down most of the measurements on the part. Mine was 555mm wide between seat bar mounts then add 25mm each side for the double width mounts

Once the holes have been marked up drill out with a pilot then 11mm for the 6 holes you'll need 6 10mm nuts to be welded in behind to be captive nuts

The boxes will need fully welding in which will stiffen up the box heaps

So there it is, about 5 lazy hrs to build from scratch , or just buy one for about $190 !!

Today I was working on the sunroof unit just cleaning it and checking it's all good to go but the drop back switch was not working very well so I pulled the switch apart and simply cleaned up contacts and now it's good as gold. Also the sun shield slide back plate was not sliding smoothly plus it has the wrong fabric, I removed it and don't some panel beating to square it up better and noticed the slide springs had broken off but was still there so they're glued back on . I removed the factory black fabric and it's foam/glue then I cut a piece of new lining material to match the good liner was glued on . . More cleaning of the sunroof tomorrow and will store it till later.
Also the rotors arrived today but haven't opened it up yet
