How programmable is the factory ecu Marty? Take it not
With the Cosworths there are so many varying opinions on this topic, very frustrating.
I have gone totally aftermarket and with both builds because you have any number of inputs for various sensors etc.
And any number of other reasons.

Don't worry Guys its been humid as anything here around Jervis Bay. What happened to our hot, dry summer? and were meant to trust their climate science

yep last night down ere was a hard one to get any sleep.

Could not imagine how the guys further north handle this all the time.

What ECU's  have you used Mark?
Marty is swatting up on Speeduino as we speak, and will be a guru by the time the coupe is ready.

Mark, the factory ecu has it's limits on how far it can be dialled like using a SCT flash tuner which I bought for my last Focus mk1 but since the SCT is from USA I have doubts everything will hook up as intended. Maybe I should just try it ehh !
The ECU standalone I was planning to get is a speeduino but is all tucked into a gutted Focus mk1 ecu box, the seller said it should work (!) But the immobiliser won't work anymore , not that I care about that..

Deano, has your town sunk yet? I seen the cloud band with gallons of water crossing your way and thought you'd might want to inflate your floaties just in case !!

Yep Deano hope Vic is not too bad. My boat is still in Bendigo, might come in useful
Interesting to see if the Southern 80 can be run in a few weeks?

Whats that with your work Marty. I thought mechanics (like most trades) were in short supply?

Deano, Got an E84 Motec in the RS. Was handy recently as I lost power at anything much above idle. Got the UTC cable for the ecu (not cheap like anything motec) and downloaded the data logging, sent it to my tuner and viola had no fuel pressure (11 psi).
Funny though cause that's the first thing I checked. Took off the fuel return line and it was like Niagara falls. But all flow, no pressure. So methinks my 044 pump, which had 98 sitting in it for 3+ years shat itself. Lesson; 98 is **** for storage, (so I always put some Fuel Doctor or the like in it). Lucky I don't use 85

After our discussion on the Speeduino I got onto a couple of the guys on FB and they pretty much said (more politely than this) if your clueless (that's me) then get a plug and play setup. This is what I have done and it arrived just before christmas. Its the Link Monsoon from Brands Hatch Performance, it comes base mapped for the YB and comes with custom loom for your order. I got the knock sensor which is not on the earlier YB's (and not sure if on many of the later cosworth escorts), the Lambda kit and the pressure sensor (which I am not sure on placement yet).

Just getting going on wiring the car now, once I figure out how to get my OBP floor pedal box to pull rather than push. I can feel some more fabrication coming on

Hi Mark, I haven't mechanicked since the late 90s . I've done other positions over the years and this one is closing down.

The bootlid should be out of the mold soon once the inner frame has regained its shape to be attached without any opposing stresses going on. I will be taking pics of the process as usual..

was all fine in Gtown, thanks guys.
My lifey is self inflating anyhow when it gets wet (great if you fall overboard concussed, or drunk), so I was safe wearing it around the streets amid downpours.

Clueless is a good decription MArk about my Speeduino and general EFI knowledge, trying to increase it , but not having the general mechanicked knowledge you and Marty have garnered, puts me on a learning curve.

I think the bike ITB/Speeduino projet is likley still for Marty as well? ( I got the dual analogue sensor in for it,yet to be added)but in general it stalled when my PC wont let me keep drawing the custom inlets up.

We want to see the first production run of guards and bootlids soon  Marty.
Then whats next,  repro's of the  rubber bootlid spoilers, or rally roof vents like I bought?
Dash crash pads for vans?

Deano, is this a ok device to get for copying parts ?

Bootlid, bonnet, guards, flares, bumpers. I am hoping to get a mk2 dashtop on the go this year and the van one soon after

I havent used one directly Marty, but have wanted to, and only done some 3D print stuff as you know.
I'd be happy to buy one of those, especially with having an android phone, not Apple, which is the same as you I think?
Otherwise youd need the Ferret Pro version
You'll be set with the 3D printer, nice side gig lining up for you.
Let me know if you need a cracked 4 door dash pad  to scan

Righteo , some news on the project front but more on that later..

Firstly on with the mk1, I drilled holes for the bolts and thought, it's to hot to weld so I used nutserts instead, the boot is not a load bearing panel and it weighs about 2.5kg in fglass, I did make washers to spread the load tho to help them not be pulled thru

A quick sanding to remove the lumps in the gelcoat

This is the device and plenty of supply for any size between M4 to M10 in both Ally and steel

And late this rvo I decided to join both skins together, the outer is still in the mold to hold shape
While the weights and clamps ( more than Dave's Garage uses lol ) during the drying time !

Ok, a friend and I have bought a time warp 1 owner mk2 rally pack which has done a low 115k KMs but it's needed to be restored with in a year so the original owner can have her pic taken as she did when she bought it back in 77 so the family can remember those times and know the car is still around and being looked after.

This will take some time away from my mk1 but not completely because we know there's always times when it comes to a halt till parts , weather or family duties get in the way..

Looks great Marty almost Monza Red by default.
Amazing how all these cars were left to the elements are now bringing big dollars and al lot of effort/money to restore.
Just imagine if they had all been well cared for from new. I wonder what the market for them would look like? Parallel universe stuff
