thats a bit of a last century blast Marty. :)

It might be a hint to get more traffic to CF Again?
Substitute Escort for Jeep, and maybe much would be relevant still today, regarding actualy values of project cars.
Funny that 10 years later did see a jump in car values, particularly with CV and lockdown.

I hope the society values have progressed though.
Interesting to see the range of forums it went to, Landy,Honda, 600RR forum...

Well they say truth is stranger than fiction and who can argue with that. Some light entertainment anyway.
You can really see both sides of it. Can't take your girl to the drive in (that place where you watch a movie from the comfort of your car. I'm pinching the guys response re Library and books hehe) if your car is a dud.

Yeah it's 1 to keep on hand to show friends !

Back with the bootlid saga, this rvo I was set on getting it painted so I blocked the primer back nice n flat and while it was drying I set about getting the 2pk mixed.. The colour was from the same tin that was used to paint the roof white on the Anglia 10+yrs ago. I did not do a accurate mix of hardener or thinners, just a " yeah that's close enough mix" , this is the finish I got...

Don't get me wrong, even tho it looks perfect flat gloss, the was runs on the lower sides so I'll be flatting the paint back tomorrow and go again, but I won't rush the painting like today's effort..

Second attempt at painting the bootlid and it came out very nice this time. I'll be letting it cure for about 5 days so all the gases have been expelled and ready for taking a mold from..

A little bit of orange peel on the lid but because it's going to be a mule to get a mold from it's totally fine..

Something to watch

Yeah I was seeing the orange peel (specially in the first attempt), but was not going to say anything as everyone is an expert. More thinners me lad. Not to get pedantic but are you using a retarder thinners/catalyst?

Ken Block showed where flash production and marketing could get you.

Hows this one I stored away. I'd be proud to get caught

That cop pic looks like Mike Brewer from Wheeler Dealers and the victim could be Jeremy Clarkson in the RS Cosworth.

Yes it did need a little more thinners and air pressure, I had I set low so the neighbors wouldn't be effected, tho they are 100m away each side, 2pk floats wet for ages.
When I get to do the car I'll get the mixes correct as intended.

Spent a couple of hrs on the bootlid again, this time was polishing it with carnuba wax 5 times so it really gets embedded in the lid, wax on, wax off!!
Then to make sure the mold won't stick, I brushed a later of pva release liquid over it and this pic of where I'm at, just gelcoated in fancy red, wait till tomorrow to it's dry and if no interruptions I'll be laying the fglass matting, about 4x layers should be fine plus the ribs to stop shape creep over time.

Had a bit of gelcoat left over so quickly got the avo blade spoiler mold ready

Still had spare so did bumperettes to finish of the gelcoat

Thanks mate, I hope it comes out in 1 piece, prolly should've let the paint settle for a few more days.. It has pva release agent and wax so fingers crossed it's good. I did glass up the lid yesterday with 5x layers and fitted in anti flex ribbing .. nice weather for working it too, 17deg and raining
I have both front guards to do as well so I'll be fglass expert by the time it's all done.

This week has been torrential so not much shed time going on.. how did Vic go with our second hand rain clouds !!?
I did get a pic of the bootlid resting waiting to cure before I split them apart ..

Once it's apart there's the trimming of excess around the edges and some tidy up here n there as needed.
Still waiting for the front doors to be ready so I can collect them from GBT , Also need another 20ltr of thinners so I'll zoom around the corner to get that on my way home at the same time..
