Yeah I've still got the van, windowless mk1 , originally used by the RAA which makes it rare and cool. Engine is a 2.1 zetec with extensive work and money spent on it, it's got Gixxer 1000cc Itb's to go on and a few other bits like fuel tank which I stupidly gave away thinking I was going to run it on LPG , not now..

Here you go Deano

I've got a engine coming from NSW some time this week so I'm rushing to make a engine stand. This will be stand number 6 and there's also a couple of engine trolleys just to keep them off the ground . This stand is made from round gate poles which means some of the pipes need notching to butt against the next pipe .
I think I'll be extending the upright pole as I think it's a bit short , that'll be adjusted tomorrow. Here is where I am at with it now .

thanks Marty, it looks clean and a nice colour.

+1 for the fuel filler flap.
- 1 for not painting the bonnet hinges?? :)
and +1 for the stainless sill trim.
I think you are excited about the new engine..

Fuel flap is from a tc-tf Cortina, exact same curve as escort panel !
Not painting hinges or a whole bunch of other bolt ons were nickel plated in gold, rear barn door latches etc.
Lower stainless trim, yes, someone likes it lol. Did you notice the gutter trim is gone from the back of the front door to the rear sweep up bit.
Yeah I'm excited about the motor coming, any day now hehe.

Been looking at ECU to drive it, and other cars I've got 'cooking' in the waiting room. Value for money I've seen about is Speeduino , under $400 it can do what you want . I don't care about tuning for every 5rpm like those high end ones, haltec, motec, whatever,, that's not me..

ha!, um, brain fart sorry. Of course it was more likely to be plated, as if you'd forget to paint them!

No, I did not pick up on the shortened drip rails either.
Thats meant to be the sign of a good mod, if nobody notices without you having to point it out :)

Got the main frame of the engine stand all done, used a set of wheels I bought a while ago for something else , gave it a dust over in the copper weld thru primer, might leave it like that .

Next is the mount to the new motor which arrived later last week, tho it'll take a back seat till my friend's RS work is completed. The focus RS seat is nearly mounted in. Got brake pads to replace and fix a oil leak from sump area.. Would think after buying a $9k engine they know how to not make them leak..

We went to pick up the van yesterday too, some rather dodge repairs and patches about the floor area and bulkhead to be assessed, it came with some spares but not much ... Didn't even come with doors or struts !! Lucky I've got a room of spare parts. I won't be starting this for a while yet .

Back to the engine stand saga, it's all up and operational with the recently bought engine bolted to it. I'll give 10 points to whoever guesses the engine, except deano as we've been chatting behind the scenes about stuff and stuff

It's pretty easy !

And here's the focus RS seat mounted into the escort RS for a friend.

That RS Focus seat looks like a perfect fit but is it legal for road use as I see that the original floor mounts have been removed.

Not flaming, just want to know, as if it is legal then I might think about getting a set for my MK1.

Thanks.

Thanks Chuff,
Are you prepared to pay about $2500+ a seat , when they pop up, if you get them cheaper, do it. My mate paid about $2200 for a full interior only wanting 1 seat , the focus owner is stripping it for racing.

Escort RS/Ghia don't have floor mount stalks. Legal, who knows but it's bolted down way stronger and welded with thicker steel and bolts (10.9 grade) than escort ever used. I did do captive nuts on a plate then welded into the rib... It's going no where, rear was a hole in the floor with 3mm plate. We used the focus runners to make life easier. The same way I did my mk1 with Hyundai seats.
Considering recaro only have 4x 6mm bolts mounting the runners to the seat frame is strange.

Yeh, Nah.

What Hyundai seats are you running? Got any photos?

Thanks
