Trojan Fibreglass eh?
I saw they have leccy scissors for cutting cloth.

Mine are always cheap $2 shop ones because I always run out of mat 3/4 way through, and end up getting resin all over them, my gloves, bench, .....
Pics of the RS jobs too please Marty.

Leccy scissors are the same as eBay ones for $75, not sure if they do laminated glass tho..Best tool to use to trim fibreglass mat is good old sheep sheers, I've used them since the late 80z and are the best, keep then sharp.

Yes ok Deano, will do..
And I got the van at an agreed price so that'll be home next weekend ... Ain't told missus yet 🤐

Meanwhile, 1 of these arrived the other day , hydraulic hole punch with a bunch of dies , seller had it at $190, then he offered it me at $178 then I got eBay plus discount of another $10 so had to get it . It's not a flare tool but I think I can mill up a cap to convert them

In the diff tunnel I had to notch two squares out so the seat sits low at the rear, I spent half of today making replacements in the new shape.

Next little job was lower the brakes pipe standoff as the height of the factory one is stupid. I'll be running different brake pipes so the position isn't critical. Also in the pic is I've removed 2x seatbelt anchor bolts as it's a 4 seater now not 5 seat unless you want to sit on the cup holders !!

Also the exhaust hanger was taken off, I'll make something similar but to work with the new rubber mounts.

She's alright about me getting cars, I just say I've bought one and it's a 'ok cool' no complaints... As far as I can tell . We see what her reaction is this weekend coming..

I did some more plug welding today on the seat front fence panel, trying to keep the momentum up . Just a few more small details to go and it's back to the bodywork welding repairs. Hope I remember how the seat cover goes back on ..

That sounds fair to me.
Plus it means you will be at home in the garage rather than where you should not be.

Spent a few hours in the shed this rvo and got the latches latching , I sacrificed a couple of Hyundai brackets and cut the wire to make the locking work as intended, I did weld then in place instead of bolting them. Just means the back door cards will be slotted, no problem as it's in the hidden part behind the seat. I think that's it for the seats fabrication side of it except the reinforcing under the seat which might get done this weekend. I've found a chunk of reinforcing mesh for concrete and planning to use that.
The rear parcel shelf is going to need some adjusting to meet up to the seat back, think I'll add a cross bar to stop and drumming .
I feel a milestone has been achieved by having the seats finally done..

Had a play with the bead roller making the flat part of the parcel shelf as the factory one has been butchered for speakers in a past life as it was the normal thing to do in the 70s-80 etc, once I rolled in the design the panel was all manky shape, I gave it a few hours with the shrinker stretcher to bring it back to where it should be . It's just held down with cleco pins for now . I'll run a are strengthening bar across the front once the shelf is finally positioned

That's about it for now on the mk1 , had a friend over to oversee the work on his RS, we made and installed the tow hooks front and rear and started on the focus RS seat install. I had no idea the escort RS only has 6mm bolts holding down the seats, that won't be good enough for spirited track driving so I've been given the ok to weld in 8mm captive nut high tensile . Also I'll be removing the focus RS seat runner tabs to be cut, modified to work better in the escort .

It looks like you have got a good handle on the bead roller thats for sure.
I will be too nice to cover up, so you might need to paint it in the body color.

Out of interest, I just found the old  'vans only' thread.
You had a blue van that you'd put a duratec in, and bike ITBs.
Do you still have that one in the collection?
