Hey guys, first time poster.
I'm trying to chase down the correct starter motor for my '77 mk2 ghia 1.6 auto, the current unit (requires rebuild) is a Bosch 10 tooth part no. 9 000 062 026. I can't find any info on this one at all and from I can see the standard 1.6 starter is a 9 tooth lucas but may be different for the auto, can anyone provide any further info for me eg: will a pinto starter work?
Located Gold Coast

Didn't all Escort's run a external solenoid? This starter motor seems to have a solenoid built within it.

Hey Shaun, auto pinto, manual pinto and auto kent motors all had built in solenoid.
You can use a pinto starter on a Kent manual but it'll sound like an old Datsun 120Y on start up lol , unless you either turn the ring gear around or (like I did once) grind every tooth to allow smooth engagement... Not the best way haha..

Hi 77Ghia
have you found a starter yet ?
A colleague tells me he has a brand new still-in-box NOS Bosch Starter comp w solenoid for sale.
When quizzed on price he said he may let it go for the $449 he paid for it and it comes with 5 yrs warranty and is made in Australia or Germany (def not Bosch China as all new inferior is today with 5 minutes warranty)
