Hi All.
Can anyone one tell me if non RS Mk2 Escorts have the same factory mounting points for a rear sway bar  as the RS ?ie, The pair of brackets on the top of the axle tubes and the holes drilled through the chassis hump in behind the rear wheels where the end bushes bolt up to the frame?

Hi Len, the axle housing will have the mounts already. Pretty sure the body does too, one of the mounts incorporates the exhaust hanger the other side has the hole and crush tube.

They came standard on the RS cars and as part of the Rallye pack option on others.
How's things in your neck of the woods? Car going well? Pretty quiet here, haven't been to a car show in what seems like a lifetime. The raceway opens again next weekend so looking forward to getting some track time.

Hi Drew,
Our car club hasn't done anything for months. My car is on club plates so I can take it for maintenance runs but that's all.  I have used the layoff to get a heap of work done- all the rust cut out and properly repaired, as well as finally getting my car doors properly aligned.  My electrical/ ignition has been sorted, starts first time, every time and have now got brakes that stop on a dime after getting the brake master cylinder/ booster sorted. I am currently getting a beefier ( 20mm ) rear swaybar made to the original pattern. which I should get back in a week or so.  I am selling my original sway bar to the manufacturer, it is so rare and unusual he wanted it for a sample so he could make more if there is sufficient interest. This why I was enquiring about mounting points- if non RS owners wanted a swaybar in the original style rather than an aftermarket bolt on then they will have a place to source one. We'll see what develops.  I am re-doing all my switches and putting them back into the original switch panel. The gauges there will go into an in-fill panel which I am creating for the front of the console. Enough to keep me busy for a while, hopefully will be finished when restrictions are lifted- about 3 weeks away here in QLD.  Hows the Mk1 coming along, got the screen sorted?

Haha where were we at with the windscreen saga? First one was bowed, exchanged that and the replacement was about 20mm too wide. Approached a few glaziers to arris it down but no one wanted to touch automotive glass, then covid kicked in. Ended up finding a nice, laminated, second hand one on a parts car. Pulled it out, cleaned it up and after all that time wasted had it in the car by the end of the day. It has dented my motorvation a bit but I'm slowly getting back in and tinkering with it again. Lesson learned though, stay away from cheap chinese windscreens.

I have an estate wagon Mk2 1977. Apparently came with no rear sway bar originally, there are no holes in the frame for it. Makes the car more wobbly.
I have a 76 sedan for parts and would like to put the sway bar from there on the estate wagon.

What size bar do you have on the front Len?

I will check. it did have a Kmac in it but is probably the standard RS I took off a donor car. The main difference is that I have double clamps with it fitted to an anti-dive kit. That's the main reason that I got a 20mm RS style rear bar made for it. Cheers, Len

Got out the calipers tonight, 22mm so its the standard RS bar.
