I had a look at a jag - (it’s been a while ) - the sump, oil pick up etc
There is a guy in Melbourne who has done one - a couple of years ago

I might crack on checking some dimensions tomorrow and see what comes of it.
Would be nice if the rx8 box would work

It’s been a while - I had a look at one out of a jag and remember it looked to be - especially the sump - very difficult

See what you mean about that sump position. There is allot at the back of the motor like the water pump etc which pushes the motor along way forward, particularly in relation to the fly wheel.

I’m using the Cosworth 2.9 in mine - no pain at all - but not as prolific as the duratec 🤭

The S type and XF Jag version have the water pump on the front of the engine, for the Escape engine cut off the water pump drive from the back of the cam them use an electric water pump.

Thanks Blue,
I found this out yesterday when heading to the wreckers. The dimensions i was working off was wrong, like you said.
I think it will fit, maybe without any sub modifications, but will go back again today to measure.

Have you put one in a Capri?

There is a place on the web which are putting them into Mx5. They sell new sumps, adapter plates, fly wheels etc to mate them up to 5 and 6 speed boxes.

That is a tidy install Spud, looks like the firewall was recessed to shift the engine back.
Looks like the Escape/Tribute version, I think the sump on that engine would need less mods than the Jag sump.

Ionix, I am working on the rear body work and diff at the moment so haven't got to fitting the engine yet. Mine will be mounted to a Silvia cross member (front bowl sump) so will be different to a Capri fitment.
The Rocketeer kit looks nice but pricey.
An option (I may do yet) is to use the Mondeo/Cougar V6 Manual flywheel as it is single mass and a lot lighter than the Jag one. I will have to make up a spacer for the Jag ring gear to fit over as the Mondeo ring gear is a smaller diameter. Still waiting for my Mondeo to die though so I can strip it for parts.

Looks good spud
Was the choice made the move the engine back for weight, or was this so the sump didn't need modification( assuming it's the Escape version with the bowl at rear of the engine) or was this also needed to get the gearbox in a good position ? What box was used with this? Getrag?
