Hi all, I was wondering 2 things. 1 what was the most powerful Mk2 Escort hp rated from the factory? And 2 has anyone completed a Mk2 Escort duratec conversion in Australia that is street legal.

Not a duratec but have a zetec conversion that is road legal here in QLD.

I know years ago Bill Hempstead from the ACT Small Ford Owners Club had his Mk2 RS2000 registered with a Duratec. Was a good 10 years or more since I saw it last.

With a engineer you can do just about anything.. a guy here in Adelaide squeezed a 351c with blower into a mk2 Cortina, it was also caged and has skinny front tyres and tubbed rear for 14in wide bags... Road legal my hairy a### !!! Even tho it passed Regency rouge, I mean road test station

I ended up looking up the vehicle standards.  I will have to get it mod plated.

Basically each state is different and each is usually assessed independently so just speak to an engineer as you’ll need their approval in most cases anyway.
