Hey everyone, just a quick question. How do I remove the roof chrome strips successfully?

Still chipping away...Slowly. As far as paint stripping I have the boot and engine bay to go.
Finding a few surprises here and there.
Ordered the rear arches and new scuttle panels.
I probably need to source the wings as well.

Also thinking it may be cheaper in the long run to weld in a new front valance and taillight panel? Rust free, but require a fair bit of beating. Thoughts?

If you can get behind all those damaged areas just "beat it".
The small dent above the tail light may be more difficult to access behind, however if you can't get something in there you could cut out a section of the reinforcement panel and refit after repairing the rear panel.

I second that, have a go at beating it.  If you weld new panels you will have to beat out the heat distortion so worst case its some good practice for you.

For areas you cant get behind you can tack a washer on and use a dent puller.

Did you get the  trims off, an old thread is here https://www.classic-ford.org/cfp/tm.aspx?m=69648

Thanks guys! I think my panel beater wants me to attempt a few things myself anyway...since I have a while to wait for his work.

I suspect that this is going to set me back a fortune, thats why I was wondering if I just buy new panels anyway.

I did end up getting them off easily with the alloy bottle opener trick I found somewhere!
One of these fit the profile perfectly.

By the time you add a new panel and remove the old panel plus welding and fettling a new panel, most of the time it better to repair what’s there. Better to pay a professional sometimes to save dollars and not spend more. New panels are available but not cheap to install time wise.

Small but big update for me at least. Rust & epoxy sealed.
