Hey guys,

Well I finally decided after many a year that I should restore my old girl back to her original state.

I have a number of questions that I'm sure you can all help with!

So my GT has only had one family...mine. 90k miles. Which were mainly jacked on during my P plate years unfortunately. I have had her for 21 years now.

So the bad bits.....my dickhead uncle as so many did, flaired the guards. Plus the bumpers were cut to look like bumperettes (which I don't mind anyway)
Rear parcel shelf has a hole from the mono speaker installed in '71
Front parcel tray is obviously stuffed
Rear sill was cut to accommodate L+R rear pipes, fine with this.
Drivers seat has a couple of tears
Engine etc is tired.
Body work from scratch.

Progress from the weekend

Front bar no real issue buy a used one and get it re-rolled and re-chromed

Flared guards at the rear you can buy replacement arches and weld in

Flared guads at the front either get a panel guy to repair them, or find a pair of guards and cut the arch sections out-hard to find guards and usually expensive

Front and Rear parcel shelfs use Les in Sydney he makes good fibreglass ones-you wont find good originals

Drivers seat any auto upholsterer can fix them, you use XY Falcon basketweave

Engine internals are readilly available

Thank you sir!

Is there anywhere local that have the arches? or just those UK online stores?

Its a great thing, always starts first go. The only issues I ever had were fuel and water pumps plus overheating a bit in our stinking heat.

Looks like a great base for a restoration. Are you going to tackle the bodywork yourself or have a professional repair it

The mounts for the seats are odd. Have you changed them? Looks like a nice Capri. Hope to see more of it.

I am thinking of doing as much stripping of paint as possible.
But I will leave the small rust bits and any damaged bits for the panel beater to do for me.

However the paint is so think, which actually seems to be my saviour for rust. This happened because my my car is actually yellow glow, but my family decided to spray it the darker yellow...so on top of the yellow glow I have primer and a few coats of this yellow!

Funny you say that, I have high back seats, so not sure if that mattered? These mounts are a pain in the ass and I cant seem to unscrew them from the floor, its very odd indeed.

Mounts for high backs should be the same. Or did the ones with the seat lever 3/4 the way up come with a different setup.
