There were quite a few Wild Plum Capris made, nothing to say the re-shell was a last 11.  If we cannot confirm that it was one, we should re-locate these entries to a separate new thread-as its still a good capri story

I am rather positive it is the same car, unless there is another wild plum / pink capri with a extra silver section painted over the rear quarter/boot area in Victoria.

It was common for that bodyshop at the time to "obtain" another shell instead of trying to repair, now the memory is a little hazy but it may had something to do with no insurance cover. I remember a complete re-paint / re-finish as I had to do all the paint prep work to be signed off for my trade ticket.

Hey russ-w

what town did this body shop exist in and are they still there ? .....any chance you can contact them for ID numbers ?

Couldnt imagine it would be mine as my paintwork looks too blotchy & original from 1972 and has touch ups here and there from at least 20-30 years ago...........but if it is, it is.  They would have needed to find another rare GTV6 that was also "WILD PLUM" as my car had "Wild Plum" paint in hidden in areas no body shop would care to paint, plus
ENG/CHASSIS nos on RH Tower look so authentic and the VIN Plate/Tags look like theyve been there since 1972.

Does anyone know how many Wild Plum painted vehicles ever existed, or where they were sold ?

Did all 1972 Capris get fitted with REAR DEMISTER HEATED GLASS in line with ADR72, or was it hit and miss ?

"paint in hidden in areas no body shop would care to paint"

Looks like I did a good job with the paint coverage back in the day then.

Anyway I don't really care, but seeing the car is for sale I thought everybody would like to know my history with it
similar to the discussions about other Capri's advertised for sale and discussed on this forum.

I would think Russ W that their would be better ways of proving your point like maybe contacting the owner first. Seems almost defamatory posting such a blank statement based on a simple car colour scheme from 40 years ago. Also possibly criminal if you were involved knowingly on rebirthing a car. If I was you Bernie I would do some serious study on this and who knows it may be right but I would check yours is a 72 shell for starters and scrape some paint in those unusual areas. On top of that Russ should be able to prove that the car was rebirthed more than a few words on a forum such as which panel shop and what colour the car was he resprayed. Sounds as bad as finding out your adopted at 50. Just my 2c

I suppose too I don’t believe these posts should be hidden as it is what it is. If someone doesn’t like the facts that’s their problem. At the moment though I see no facts and maybe just moving to another heading would be more appropriate.

Rebirth is a rebirth and common practice back in the day by the sounds of it.Adds to the history of the car , now the purest might frown upon the body been reshelled but it is saved and back on the road...
Here comes the can of worms.. IMHO reshell value would have to be less value as apposed to an original bodied car ..Not less of a car providing v6 shell was used..
This getting little exciting now.
