Wish I knew someone in VicRoads who could trace the regio history: wouldnt put myself thru the "pain" as an "outsider" knowing it would be "stone walling" and dead ends and much time wasted, especially since there are "doubts".
Maybe Ford didnt sell it to the public for 2 or 3 years while original Ford Executive &/or wife drove it, then re-registered when first public owner was duped into believing it was brand new ? (would require corruption with eng & chassis numbers etc of course via a number of persons; nuff said ?)

According to the VicRoads General Issue Number Plates table attached, IXI reg would have been used in 1977!

Hi all

I was directed to this forum by a former work college.

He told me about a pink / wild plum capri V6 that was being discussed.

Here goes the story (I will try and keep it short).

We where both apprentice's at a large bodywork shop during the late 70's and a capri V6 come into the shop after it had a large hit in the rear.

I remember this car well as I used it to be assessed for my trade certificate as the owner requested a two tone paint (the silver bonner and rear panel) which I needed to complete for my assessment.
Well the story was we had another capri come into the shop and we had to transfer all the components over to the other shell including the numbers etc and id plates. This was a common trade practice during the day as the original body wasn't able to be easily repaired.

Wow I would have never imagined that this car would still be alive.

Anyway good luck with everything.

Hi Russ,
Thank you for your comments.
Did the shop buy in a new bodyshell from ford? Did you transfer engine, gearbox and diff to the shell? Im just trying to get my head around this scenario, cheers,...ron
