Bernie, You musn't have been listening to me. I did the fuel tank in the XB 3 years ago with the KBS treatment. Still going strong. POR-15 also do a treatment which I have heard good things about.
Hi Mark
looked in your 11 posts and found no info of where I wasnt listening to you ? Remind me mate !
Problem with the XC Tank that doesnt apply to XA & XB, is that you have "breather pipes" (one of which goes to charcoal cannister), running around inside the tank which may or may not get glogged by tank treatment, PLUS, being a standard tank, they have a HUGE depression in centre to accomodate the spare, which means you'd need GALLONS of "treatment" to ensure you got 100% coverage. Both products say that unless ur 100% sure of 100% coverage, you can expect problems. Cost of "GALLONS" out-weighs another good tank or corrupt the car by fitting repro XA XB Tank.
I take your XB Tank is Long range ? (which has none of the above issues as theres no depression to coat) ???
As the "Ford Gods" were looking down mercifully on me, my neighbour fessed up he had an AS NEW "COBRA LONG RANGE" fomoco TANK in his garage he aquired some 35 years ago which was no longer required ! .............. Been in 7th Heaven ever since ! When I shone a spot light inside, it was as if it was NOS in 100% perfect nick all round, inside and out ! ... Best $800 I ever spent !
I fitted it this week and my XC Coupe is back on the road, YAY! (Feels like the day I purchased the car NEW from Retell Ford Mentone back in 1978 !)
