Haha that'd be nice Deano, I've been playing with the manifold and having a chuckle at the port size. Not much power to be had out of the old pre-crossflow. I don't remember winning any races in the GT I had in my teens so it looks like the record will stand

So back too it, I got a price on fixing the other manifold but in the meantime found another, better one, for half the price so grabbed it and had it faced.

After that it was into the shed to remove all the casting marks and give it a buff and polish, spent a saturday morning on it and reckon it was time well spent, it'll match the headers when I have them ceramic 'chrome' sprayed.

Doing another batch of powder coating this week, the cars coming along well at the moment.
Cheers Drew

G'day Len,
Still painting and detailing odds and sods. Haven't touched the body in a while, taking a couple of weeks holiday in the new year so I'll get a good run at it then.
Lifes sort of getting in the way at the moment, the nephews just started karts so I'm getting really involved with that. The bugs bitten me too, been doing a few track days in the TE50.
Made friends with the Escort again after the 'burnout' of building it and am driving the wheels off it every chance I get.
The Cortina's still on the radar though, can't wait to be driving it aswell.
Cheers Drew

Ok so its been a while but I managed to get some time over christmas and new year. Motorvation has been a bit low but after seeing some progress posts from Spud, Marty and Bonus I dragged my sorry behind out to the garage and commenced the passenger side. I'm kicking myself I didn't take any before or during shots but such was the surge of enthusiasm I just picked up the grinder and welder and went for it.
New lower sill is in, that was an easy one the replacement came with the car.
The rear arch had been rolled, with a sledge hammer I think at some point but I managed to dolly most of it out. Rust wasn't too bad so I just made some patches for the couple of spots.
Next was the wheel well which was completely gone and had been cut out prior to my ownership. It had been thrown in the boot though so I was able to use that as a reference to make one from scratch.
The exhaust cut out had also been badly beaten, for a larger diameter pipe I assume. The shape was still mostly there so I made a buck and hammered the lip back into alignment.
The doors went on alot better than the drivers side with only a couple of holes having to be stretched to get them sitting flush. They where proof coated and board filed and only needed minor dolly'ing on the lips. The gaps were also alot better on this side with no trimming and re-welding needed.
The bonnet(s) where a sticking point, one was straight but with a rusty edge the other was clean but as wavy as a day at sea. Unsure what to do, I didn't want to get left without a bonnet I chased dents around the clean one for an afternoon but in the end bit the bullet and cut the sections I needed and welded them into the other one.
Got into the engine bay today and plug welded the numerous holes from over the years.
Its come along way in a few weeks, hoping to keep the motorvation going and get it into paint soon.
Cheers Drew

Hi Drew,
Good to see you getting into it again, motivation can be a big factor when projects drag on and other things intervene.  If you've seen the news its a tad wet up here, so might get in and do a bit more work on my boot install to tidy it up.  Dug some channels in my yard to clear away water and some minor house jobs, need some things top keep me busy. This ,at least, is a job I can do under the house.  We're expecting a few more 100MLS of rain, not sure I will get into work tomorrow, will have to wait and see.
Cheers, Len

Hey Len,
I thought of you when I saw that on the news. Hope everythings alright.
Spoke to the painter today, I need to remove engine and finish stripping the engine bay and he'll take it from there... Next couple of weeks it'll be gone. Now the challenge will be to remember its coming back and not fill the spare space in the garage with any other toys
Cheers Drew

Yeah good luck Len, maybe keep the budgy smugglers close at hand.
