Back onto the doors today, started the tedious job of getting them all straight and gapped. I refitted the latches, catchers strikers etc and put on the top line of stainless trim. Then it was a matter of adjust, check, repeat for a couple of hours. I had to stretch out a couple of mounting holes to get them to sit hard against the lower sill and shave down an  edge to get one of the gaps even. Otherwise it was just alot of fine tuning.
Next step is to proof coat the gaps and make sure they're all straight and not bowing into each other, if all goes well they should just need a light hammer and dolly, to the best of my ability and maybe a coat of polyester/ highfill to finish, but thats on the list for tommorrow...
Cheers Drew

Great work, and the pace at which you are doing it is putting me to shame!

Great fix on the door gaps there mate. .. I end up getting drunk when fitting up doors lol.
Cortina rear axles always seem way forward in the arch. My mate drilled the pin holes a good 50mm further back in the main leaf further back so the axle sat back more in the arch it looked much better.

Looking good, Drew.  I should get you to come over and help me get my D/ S door to fit better.  Couple of guys have had a go but still not what I would like. Pity you're on the opposite side of the country lol

Haha now that I'm back to work it seems like its taking forever...
The wheel placement bothers me too Marty, what where they thinking?
Back into it today, hammered most of the edges flat then built them up with polyester, proof coated and sanded then finished off in epoxy. It took a couple of goes but it's dead straight now, very happy I took the time to do it. Theres a few more odds and sods to finish but I should be able to turn it around and start on the other side soon.
So now its time for that beer... You never know Len, once this cars done I'm out of room and am going to need something to do... I may take you up on a working holiday

Hey Drew, would you mind giving us an idea of the products you are using so far?
I'm interested in the époxy' (etch primer/sealer?)you are using, as it looks like you are working semi undercover, and stuff looks pretty good.

Yeah, that's my problem too. Just had my Christmas leave knocked back too. Still, inspired by your progress, I got out there today and put in a decent effort. The alternator is back together and installed, the brakes have been bled (horrible job, especially when you forget to tighten the pipes to the proportioning valve like I did - what a mess), and the radiator is installed. Just spent two hours looking for some old seat covers that were washed a while back and then promptly disappeared....

Its those small jobs that seem to bog down isn't it... I've got that to look forward to yet.
Hey Deano, I've been getting a fair bit of guidance from my local paint supplier, using a single pack epoxy thats said to be safe to use with other products in the future, two pack, acrylic etc. Spent a bit of time tuning the spray gun, pressure, nozzle and feed rates so I don't get too much misting or overspray. The polyester, essentially a spray on bog/ putty was a different story, it was like spaying on custard and needed building up slowly. Yeah working in the open at the moment although three corners of the carport are sealed in, we're getting a quote on a roller door this week to turn it into a proper garage. Yay more space to collect crap

I'm going to have to pay you a visit and gets some tips, as the van is going to be a home paint job.
