Jeez Drew, you are putting me to shame with all the work you are doing.  At the rate you are going, your new project will be finished before my old one, and I'm already most of the way there!

Haha, yeah this one should be easier than the Escort, everythings already there and quite sound...
I'm using the josco mops on a converted bench grinder, coarse and fine for stainless and separate mops for chrome and acrylic although I find the coarse to harsh for these. Same brand compound sticks, grey/ cutting and white/ fine... It's time consuming but rewarding, the hum of the machine is kind of a soothing sound to me now

Love the Cortina, would pass as a good rat project if the body was left like that.
The 4AG also came standard in some applications with twin 40mm Solex carbs (I have a set lurking under the house) so it could be the original manifold.
Good work there those parts look great.
I find it helps to keep the other half happy as well if I sell off a few bits here and there, just don't keep a tally of the outgoing expenses!

G'day Blue 74, I might have a drama there, the little lady is keeping a book on the car, man hours, ingoings and outgoings etc all good though she's getting involved and it keeps me honest. I have a budget of 10k on the car so no silly ebay bidding wars
Almost through buffing the trim (42 hours so far I'm told) the grille took a whole day, it's still not perfect but I'm not going to go as far as I did with the Escort in the pursuit of perfection, it ended up getting stressful and we developed a real 'love hate' relationship. The windscreen trims were harrowing, thin, odd shapes that threatened to wrap themselves around the buffer at any second, glad thats done. Reconditioned the rear lights aswell, once again they'll do and I'll save some money.
Finished sorting through the boxes of parts, I was a bit hesitant about doing an unfinished project, but every things there, well labelled and I've had a few suprises like some nos badges, door handle gaskets, new master and slave cylinders.
Sold off most of the spares, this is the first project I've had thats got cheaper the further I've gone, lol. Splurged out on some bling with the proceeds with some quarter bumpers, light trims and bullet mirrors arriving this week, Had the original low number country plates remade too.
Cheers Drew...

Picked up a set of wheels and tyres today, the fit and price was right so that ends the debate on steelies or alloys for the car... they're fairly conservative at 5.5" and 185/ 60's but still should look a treat.
Cheers Drew...

yeah nice pick up Drew, I have the same on the Capri, after trying rostyles, globes and Ford minilights.
You should do a trial fit and post some happy snaps when you get a mo.
Are you planning to leave the centres polished or paint them?

Hello all,
Keeping with all the outside trim work I've made up a nice set of scratch free glass from the couple of sets that came with the car. Windscreen will be a nice modern laminated one just in case... Stripped off 50 years of build up and overspray with a bathroom scum remover and alot of scrubbing in the evenings.
Bumpers next, rear one needed a bit of gapping and fiddling but wasn't happy with the fit of the bumperettes, they stuck out like two antenna from the front. Back too the parts pile to modify a couple of mounts... Cut the outers down by 25mm, welded them back together and slotted out the holes for easy adjustment. Made some new inners too, the bumpers didn't quite cover the ones that go through the valance, they just sort of 'stuck out there' much happier now they're invisible...
Ordering up all the rubbers at the moment so the exterior trim is almost done, looking forward to getting into the engine bay next...
Cheers Drew
