Any TIG welders here?

I'm looking to learn the art, in the hope that I can eventually pull off some passable welds.

Looking at stainless and aluminium predominately.

Any suggestions on machine/kit to buy, where to buy, new or 2nd hand? or any other general pointers?

Thanks,
Rhys

YouTube Welding tips and tricks, he's got some great advice and close up footage of tig welding.
I've got a acdc tig for most metals inc ally, I'm still learning the ropes myself, tho its common at my work tigging s,steel tanks. My machine cost $750 and is a 200amp inverter model with loads of dials , switches and a digital screen !
Gas is almost always Argon for most metal, ally.
Even tho my machine is an eBay special... I had a guy tig a canopy in ally for a camper and he said after 6hrs of solid welding that its as good as his $3k work tig !!

Mine is a EZ Power 200 tig... Also has a water cool feature for the tungsten but will never use it.
I can't find the brand on eBay but it's identical to a Boswell , look for them with bids as outright price is over a grand !!

BOC have AC/DC tig welders for a decent price.

The below model can be bought without a foot pedal for around $800.

As said above, welding tips and tricks on youtube is a great source of information.

Big tip when tig welding is make sure everything is CLEAN. As in spotless...makes welding so much easier. Its all in the preparation.
