What the accepted consensus on mounting shoulder straps on a harness these days in a caged Escort - for safety and compliance?
 
I do not have a cross-over bar right behind seats, only between rear arches.
 
I am now confused as to getting eyelets style mounts are loop over straps.

Using the cross bar between the strut towers can present an issue with the belt angle if you are using a Hans device - if too low it apparently puts alot of downward strain through your shoulders.  Also, the longer the rear length of belt the more stretch you will get.
 
Is the car for competition?  Have you consulted the CAMS and FIA info?
 
When designing my car I could not really find any facts as to whether rear eyelets were any better or worse than wrapping teh belt around the rear bar.  I went with wrap around.

No not competition so hadn't consulted CAMS. I will have a look on their site now though.
Currently I have a 4point mounted through top of rear firewall/bulkhead area via eyelets.
 
If I can't find too much info I will run with the same as I want to setup for a passenger with next harness.

I don't have a cage in my car yet. So I got a bar made up to fit under the rear parcel shelf.

I've got the same for the passenger side, but need to get more power before adding another seat and person into the car :)

THat bar looks to be a good idea.  If the car is to be used on the road I dare say most states would require an engineering certificate?

That bar is a great idea, any idea of what it would cost to get another made up? More pictures of how harness is mounted to it up close?

I have gone ahead and ordered a new eyelet mounting style harness.
 
Going to run with the FIA approved style mounting plates to get me through the next track day for simplicity of install.

My understanding is eyelet or wrap around depends more on the harness. If you previously bolred through the parcel shelf then the eyelet attachment woyld suite your harnesses. Note cams is bringing in compulsory hans type devices, so best you review if that will apply to you and gear up accordingly.

I grabbed all the dimensions and contacted Garry at GazSpeed up in Sydney (0411 553 725 is the number I have for him). It was in 2011 so I can't remember how much it was. I think he was offering to do more for about $200.


I had to drill 3 new holes at each end for the mounting bolts.



And then 2 more larger holes each side for the eye bolts.



I grabbed some 3" clip-in brackets and then checked out this site to get the wrapping right: http://www.schroth.com/in...ructions/en/index.html

That bar is looks awesome, excellent idea. Something I will look into in the future for myself

If the harness is only going to be used for track days. I would think you may get away with it being hidden under the rear parcel shelf for a registered road car as the rear seat and some strategically placed covers over the eyelets would conceal the harness bar. The standard belts would have to be retained.
