Nothing much to report lately, due to a ten week work contract that has to be finished on time or else. My son is giving me trouble over the proposed paint job. Seems he wants to spend ten grand on a smik job. Trouble is i dont want to spend that much on paintwork. It will make the total spent around thirty grand and i think its too much. Besides i want a car that i can drive without worrying about scratching it. I would rather keep the money for ongoing repairs and mods. I also have a mk1 escort two door that will take about ten grand to put back on the road. I guess well sort it out. Meantime i still have to assemble the front guards and stone tray to the shell and get it all off the rotisserie and onto a trolley for painting. A factory option steering wheel sold on eBay this week for 272 dollars. When i got my esky home and pulled off the thick wheel cover there was a very nice factoy optional steering wheel underneath. Seems like the st. wheel was worth half the price of the car, ha ha.

Just went to look at a '72 with a sliding sunroof offered up for sale. I immediately had fingers crossed for it to be a "special", but it was a 5/72 build, auto, wild plum, white interior, factory driving lights, sports wheel, cloth inserts, LHS mirror, radio, rostyles and steel sunroof. Mmmmmm nice, needs small bodywork and would benefit from a respray after the touch ups, but a nice car. Completely fully re-co engine and auto, this car despite needing a few grand spent is not cheap, but will be very nice once finished

JR if anyone can find one you will. With only eleven produced its like looking for a needle in a haystack. I dont know what the survival rate of capris is but you would think that there would be at least five or six out there somewhere. Of the seven that ford kept they could be anywhere in vic or nsw. Even of the four that were sold to bs stillwell one of those ended up in qld. (mine). So yeah, they could be anywhere.

I am still working over the panels one at a time. So happy that there was nothing seriously out of shape because as it is its taking me ages to do. Anyway the panels are now straight and its down to fine tuning. I want to get it painted soon before the qld humidity starts to cause any rust. Then its on to the mechanical stuff.

Car is booked in to be painted in 2pak in a few weeks time. I never realised that it would be so difficult to restore a car but its an added thing to the daily grind of life and it sometimes gets too much. I just left it in the shed for a while to get on with more pressing things. Now Ive had a rest Im keen to press forward to the next stage and the refitting. Expect more pics soon.

It's so exciting to see the colour go on after all that hard work scraping and sanding.

Look forward to the pictures soon.

Thanks for your comments guys.
Hotboost I live in Burpengary. Ill give you the details of the painter and prices after he has painted it. I want to be able to tell him if he does a good job then every small ford owner will know about it.
