Hi Guys. The orange V6 you speak of at SFS is for sale. I had a chat with the guy and had a quick look through the car. It was quite a gem and would be returned to original quite easily. I didn't notice the BSS items on the car, but then I wasn't looking. I have to say that I was unaware of the BSS Special mods to Capris. Really interesting. I grew up in East Kew and remember seeing lots of cars with the BSS badge on boot lids. Good luck with the resto.

This is the one. I didn't speak to guy but I had a good look under the bonnet and noticed the sticker.
I can remember a Cotina with the BSS badge that lived near me as a kid. The guy also had a Mk 2 Granada and a Mk 1 Cortina as well....getting away from the point.[:I]

I pulled a metal BSS badge of the boot of a TC Cortina in the big wreckers down from Ford at Broadmeadows years ago.

Very keen to find out about this car, or any good V6 Capri (manual). Can anyone forward the contact details of the owner?

Cheers

Progress to date.
Welding is all done now except for the odd pinhole. The front guards have been converted to "bolt on" and the heater plenum and rear vent panel are now "removable". I had to refit the bonnet and doors in order to make the guards fit and line up.I am happy with the result. At the moment i am stripping the paint. This is a big job and takes some determination. So pretty soon the body will be in etch primer. All panel lines are sharp, body filler wil be at a minimum, so pleased with that. Pics to follow soon.

Hi caprispecial. What method did you use to convert your guards to bolt-on? Nutserts of weld on nuts? Interested in seeing pics as i have started doing the same conversion.

cheers,

Hi muzwaldo. So far ive just used simple nuts, bolts and washers. With an oval hole in both the guard and the rail where it sits you can get a lot of adjustment. Guards will eventually be fixed with sikaflex also for waterproofing and added strength.

my guards are bolted on now, the nut part crimps th the guard, and the bolt goes thru guard into the nut insert... sooooo simple now, yeh ok its not ridgydidge, but save alot of pain later if needed[%]

I first thought of just bolting straight through but then heard about nutserts (aka rivnuts) which would give me a captive nut setup. Is that what you used Binalong? If so, did you buy or hire the tool, manual or air powered? Sorry for the thread hijack, I think its a great mod.
Good idea with the sikaflex too.
