I started pulling the engine down yesterday. I figured that the guy who installed the roller rockers and double valve springs would have done more, so curiosity got the better of me. I found that 1. bores are 95mm 2. rocker posts have been pinned 3. valve sizes are , inlet 45mm, exhaust 42mm. Camshaft also has more lift than standard. Everything seems in reasonable order so im thinking just a light hone and new rings etc. is all thats required,time will tell. Pics to follow.

Ok the Lime Glaze one in Ballarat I don't know too much about, other than it was advertised in the Trading Post about 5-6 years ago restored with a V8 in it for about $12k.

I first saw the car in 1986 at a shonky car yard in Richmond for $3999. It had 8" Hotwires all round with raised suspension because of the tyre width. It was a nice car but Lime Glaze.....anyway I wanted it because it had a factory sunroof. I think it also had cloth inserts. I walked away but went back a few days later and it was gone. The next time I heard about it was in the trading post

Hey Caprispecial, looking at your photos, I see the timing face has what looks to be "220 J McCallum" written on it, is that right? If so you might just find Mr McCallum right here on the Forum.....

Also looking at your pistons, are the bowl edges straight or tapered?

Well spotted JR. Yes it took about three days for the penny to drop and when i looked him up i found he lives only about five minutes from me. He remembers the car and did oganise the rebuilding of the motor. I learen't quite a bit about the car and its owner.(aprox 83 to 87) Also fitted at this time was an lsd, dont know what type though. Now i have just ten years of its history to fill in. Oh, and those pistons are falcon with 351 rods and a tad over ten to one compression.

Ive been busy making up a rollover jig for the Capri. I got a big mig welder and am using it to good effect on the jig and am actually having fun with the welder. Starting to wish the car was more rusty.(only joking.) When i get it spinning their will be pics....ron.

Trivea question. Why did ford see the need to have four round holes in the back panel? In the second photo im wondering why they put in the floor crossbrace almost as an afterthought? Also look at the long fatigue crack running under the seat mount. What are you sitting on? Then the rollover jig. This one is simple to make. It cost about one hundred and fifty dollars in steel and six lockable casters cost about thirty dollars. Brackets to connect it to the car i already had. The fulcrum point should be slightly lower on the car for perfect balance. The credit for this design goes to someone on this forum , simon i think, thanks mate. Cheers,...ron.

Ive been really busy for the last two months working on the car. Not so much on the body shell as such but on all the fittings that bolt to it (brackets, struts, crossmember, springs etc.) Theres a mountain of these parts that need stripping back to bare metal and refinishing. Anyway im making some headway and its nice to see all the finished and new looking parts. Also, so as not to get bored im sourcing parts that i need. i find that i have to work on three or four different types of jobs on the car so as to keep interested. People show up to look and say, "what you haven't done anything yet?" and when i show them they say, "what do you want to go to all that trouble for, nobodys going to see that?" Groan....any way i know some people that will appreciate it.[^]

I thought it was time to show some more of the documents on the subject of the uprated Capri vsixs. What i am hoping is that more of these vehicles will come to light. Out of the eleven that were built at the moment there is two known(mine, a bss stilwell car and one of the capitalised cars which is now owned by murray jeffs.) and some evidence of others. Ford in the closing months of production loaded up the Capri with many extras to make the car more appealing to buy. The eleven uprated cars however while also having many of these extras were never meant for direct public consumption as they were built for the various ford managers around the country. The fact that b stilwell got hold of four of them was probably just a fluke. Anyway the seven capitalised cars eventually were sold on to the public as seconhand. Mr burrows was the first owner of my car and this correspondence was sent from ford direct to him. As i bought the car off him all documentation was passed to me. Here it is (jon will post up pics as soon as possible)
