Well after much mucking about I finaly replaced the axle with new wheel bearing installed. I had to do it twice as the first time the wrong collar was supplied which then fouled on the axle casing.
And what a difference. Now I can actualy hear everything else thats going on, that nice v6 hum, tappet noise, metal timing gear whine and the roller rockers being high tensile aluminium, have a definite ringing sound.
Pretty much everything on this engine has been modified and it sure has a healthy dose of torque and power.
Next Im going to change the rack from the 2.6 job thats in it for the standard 3.3. I just dont think the 2.6 is necessary for road use even thru your favourite set of twisties. Makes me wonder what the previous owner was doing.
On another note Ive been running 95ron with the timing set at 13dbtdc. and this is only pinging briefly when in third gear at low revs and high throttle otherwise all fine so next will be to change to 98ron and further tuning, cheers for now.
