"Twin number plate lights." One of the hazards of buying new parts from another part of the world. They are nice and shiny tho.
"BSS badge". It seems that nowadays BSS stands for something else entirely.
JR do you have any Als hiemers? You already supplied my gold stripes.

Engine is pretty much built.
With the gearbox I decided to replace all the seals and then fit the box to car. Except that curiosity got the better of me and I had to have a look inside to make sure all was well. First I noticed that one of the synchro rings had no stand off gap meaning it was pretty much finished. So then I decided that it would be good to replace all the synchros. These boxs are easy to work on so in no time it was as seen in the pic.
What I discovered was that the bearing that goes between the input shaft and the main shaft was in the process of destroying itself and same thing happening in one end of the layshaft cluster. All the gears appear ok so it was a good thing I checked it before fitting.
So now I am replacing all bearings, seals and synchros.
I will also need to get the mainshaft to input shaft bearing surfaces reinstated, just now trying to figure out who can do that for me. Anyone had similar experiences?

Ive been reminiscing lately about the exciting fuel and electrical fires that happened to various small fords that I owned back in the sixties and seventies.
I had a fuel fire once in the middle of a snow storm and it was only the fact that there was about six inches of snow on the ground that enabled me to put the fire out.
Had several electrical wiring episodes usualy because the alternater shook itself to bits and shorted out together with the dismal lack of proper fuses.
Then Im looking at the tangled mess of decades old wires that make up the looms and it occurs to me that if the wiring on near new old fords could give me that much grief, imagine what these old wires will do.
So the decision has been made to completely redesign and renew the wiring system, fuses, relays etc. but with the engine bay still looking as original. Electric fuel pump will also have a safety device installed to turn off in case of a mishap.

If any are wondering where I got my gearbox parts from Burton power in UK have everything you will need. Bearings, seals, synchro rings. Their catologes dont list for the old zephyr type box as in aussie capris, but all these parts are the same as the later type 5 box which they have. These parts were ordered online on a Friday, one work week passed and they turned up bright and early this morning, Monday. Im really enjoying dealing with the UK parts suppliers.

Hey Ron, are you looking at starting from scratch with the wiring? I've been looking at the 21 curcuit painless wiring kit. it comes with a fuse box and every wire is labeled. Motor and car is looking great by the way.Owen

Hi Owen you must be going to fit a lot of accessories, I thought that I would get by with a 12 circuit kit. I looked at the painless kits but they dont seem to have any relays wired in. The harness Im looking at has prewired relays, circuit breakers and fusable links. A totaly protected and well designed loom.

See what you think of this one. It seems to make more sense to me especially when all the extras (relays, fuses etc.) can be tucked out of site inside the passenger side of the dash.
