i started my ford escort love affair with
1975 Mk1 panel van, 2L (with crummy flames across the front), lotsa bog but excellent panel work inside. Burst a fuel line coming home one day - had the fire brigade help me put it out...
1976 Mk2 panel van, 1.6L webber, lowered and re-spray... had to go when the first bub came along - but it was starting to rust away before my eyes...
looked at a 1980 sundowner (original) - and nearly bought it... they looked cool, but i couldnt pay the $6k at the time...

now (my third) is the 1979 Mk2 GL 4-door, 1.6... can fit a baby seat in the back - and i am finding the sedan has less rust-prone areas than the panel van (twin skin roof folds were always going, as well as around the panel van windows)...
but, seeing these photo's has brought a tear in the eye - got good memories of stuff (including mates) rolling around in the back when i have drifted the panel van round a corner...
well done guys - keep the panno's goin!
