FORD CAPRI CENTER CONSOLE ELECTRIC CLOCK REVIVE OPTIONHi guys , I have been working on a venture past 3 months ( time permitting) on repairing & restoring the German electric clock which is located on the top of the curvature of our Aussie Mk1 Capri center consoles, these clocks have the common fault of not working when found , I after many hrs put into it have devised a method of opening them & repairing them back to life, its not an easy procedure by no means , but I have already repaired x 3 with great success , and just need to iron out a few things like an in line protective fuse to prevent future breakdowns due to power surge or under voltage fault ( which is why they have all failed over the years ) , also looking at fitting an LED ( in the rear for night time illumination) as opposed to the very expensive "original" 12v bulb & holder assembly ( if you are lucky enough to have it already) , aswell as I give the internals a good clean out and clean the plastic lenses before re-assembly.
Before I start this venture I just want to get an idea on what the demand would be if any at all ? I guess I need to know what fair price you guys are willing to pay for a service of this type, as I need to know if its a viable thing for me to pursue , as they are very , very time consuming but at the same time very enjoyable as I love repairing old things to get them back to life!
I,m thinking of each owner sends clock via registered mail , and allows 2-4 weeks to do the repair/restoration , if clock is beyond repair I will re-assemble and return at no charge with minimal cosmetic alterations , the fee structure I am still working on , in the "fixed" price fee I will incorporate registered mail return postage.
Let me know your views guys ...cheers
Mario
