Yeah it looks way to tall, and that turbo location would def be an issue. The air intake pipe running through the alt belt is a bit different!

The main thing is if the gearbox will bolt up to the ' old' Duratec, if it does...and why not, I'd go the Duratec option with turbo bolted to the Falcon 6?? Speed box.
Tho if an Ecoboost lands at my place cheaply I'll find a way to get it working....prolly on LPG just to be more eco Ecoboost!!

What manual GB will be behind this motor in the 4cylT Falcon? ZF 6spd??
 
The current ZF box in a FG is a very good box from all reports.

3 years later... Has anyone contemplated/attempted this conversion yet?

After I found out you need sensors at the gearbox and wheels as well as the crank. I Banished that idea.

Hey. I'm doing one now. I've got a 2.3 Ecoboost from a Mustang. Slow progress but hopefully running late this year.

Nice work 👍. I almost came across one but ended being a mps 2.3 duratec... Nah... But am in the hunt for a focus ST225 5cyl motor for a escort or the Prefect van one day, I'll even trade a zetec on one lol

digging up an old thread to see in there's been any more progress on the Ecoboost install.

I'm still lightly hunting for that 5cyl Focus (Mondeo is the same) 2.5L ST motor now that the milage is creeping up the price is slowly dropping . Almost caught one for $100 but the guy wouldn't crate it for shipping ... Some people...

^^ Thats what I was thinking Marty, motors are more likley to have done kms now which doesnt appeal as much.
Theres an extra thin chance I have found a very low km circa 2013 Ecotec engine, thus the interest in this thread again for me.
I'm just waiting to see if it may eventuate. (please Santa)
 
Coming from a different angle then, if you had a MK2 rolling chassis, and you wanted to repower it just as a reliable drivable weekender, what would you ideally be on the lookout for? And which gearbox?

They will all need engineering naturally, but some may be easier than others?
