Don't have pear shaped ports don't think its worth doing unless you are chasing every possible HP.

so grant, your running standard ports in your head and there's no issue with the injectors?

Laurie,
I've been running EFI for years, best thing i ever did.
Better than the twin webers too, they are good for full revs thats about it. The EFI can be tuned through every range properly. And it will start cold no pumping the gas or choke

I run the megasquirt ECU, over the last few months have been tuning on the road with the auto tuner.

Holy thread revival Batman,  I'm looking at going down this path running full sequential ign/inj  with weber style taper bored  or Gixxer Fow-sand or such TB's. My cunning plan involves using toothed wheel off the crank and the old distributor as the cam sensor, individual coils, wide band with the Megasquirt 2 or 3 . The basics seem easy the devil is in the details , fuel pump, regulator, return lines etc etc
I'm competant with wiring and setting up programmable ignitions so I will be on the bludge for a base tune before I can let it do it's thing on Auto tune.
TIA Cheers

Ionix
Great thing about mega squirt is it doesn't really need a base tune to start.
Once you've entered all your parameters it should easily be enough for the vehicle to start, then can start tuning from there :)
If you are running a toothed wheel you shouldn't need the distributor for anything should you? The toothed wheel will replace this completely. I also believe some of the webber style body fuel injected types will need the distributor removed anyway? I am looking at changing over from my Sierra to a jenvey style set up but this is something which is holding me up at the moment

The Pinto will still need part of the distributor to drive the oil pump.
Ionix is spot on with Megasquirt and the initial parameters, the Tuner Studio program will help you get a reasonable tune once the car is on the road although a dyno tune will reap more
I use GSXR throttle taper throttle bodies on a Zetec and they work great, I would have liked to try this setup on a Pinto, may still do one day!

Gees has been a while since I started this thread. I have been running the EFI now with a  EMS Stinger V4 ECU. Flowed the head, Camtech Cam and rockers, balanced standard bottom end= 120hp rear wheels. pretty happy with power and quite reliable too
