Well, I've finally realised a 20 year dream and bought myself a Sierra RS Cossie.

The car was sold new to the first owner in Japan, where it spent the first 23 years of it's life as a weekend car, only clocking up 23,400 miles. It was then imported to Australia in 2009 and has only clocked up another 600 miles since, making a grand total of 24,000 miles.

Consequently the car is very tidy, especially structurally and mechanically. Cosmetically the car needs a couple of things tidied up but that'll be done over time. Only mods are a stage 1 chip, mongoose exhaust, Spax shocks and and Alpine headunit. I have the original head unit and will be reinstalling it when I can get hold of a factory amplifier to go with it.

It's been a big week and I'm stuffed. Photos and more info to come

Paul.

[88]Nah there'll be no more power mods to this car. I've been there done that with too many cars before and lost a lot of money along the way. These days I prefer to get my "need for speed" on the race track anyway. Heading down to Bathurst next week to race in the 1hr Production Sports Car race.

These are some quick pics i took in the driveway this morning. Once the car has had a thourough detail and touch up I'll get some better pics done.

Looks very smart ... congratulations! Such low km's too.

Doesn't look like it needs much ... what's your plans?

Going to keep it as stock as possible and just use it as a weekend car.

I'll keep the chip, exhaust and shocks on it for now and probably get a set of Compomotive CXN17s for it, and keep the stock wheels for shows etc.

Immediate plans are to tidy up a couple of cosmetic things, get a factory amplifier and put it and the factory head unit back into it. After that I'll just go through it piece by piece and clean it or replace it to return it to as close as possible to showroom spec.

Very, very nice Paul! Glad to here your planning to keep the car standard, a car in that condition should be preserved in my opinion. I also like the CXN17s & have been considering getting a set myself. Image wheels also make a similar wheel & a 4 stud centre lock copy.

Thanks Matt.

I've been looking into the CXN17s but they are bloody expensive. I saw these Calibre Vintage wheels on a white Cossie and they looked great. They should be about $1000AUD delivered but I'm just waiting for a bit more info on how they fit up, as they only come in 17x8" ET35 and I'm a bit concerned how close they'll come to the front wheel arch moulds.

Time for an update.

I've been sourcing a few parts to return the car to a completely stock appearance. First thing was to remove these larger side indicators that had been previously fitted.

Bought some original side indicators from the UK, much better...

Next thing was to track down an original amplifier to go with the original stereo that came with the car. I managed to find one on Ebay UK, so I took a chance on it being in working order and bought it.

Time to take out the aftermarket Apline head unit and cassette holders that had been installed. I'd already taken out a couple of screws before taking this photo, hence the gap at the top of the cassette holders.

I was worried about what might have been barstardised to fit this stuff in, but thankfully whoever had installed it had done a good job of it, and left the original wires in tact along with the original bracket, aerial and wiring loom to connect the amp and stereo.

Had to screw the bracket back into place, and then it was ready to take the original stereo and amp.

Connected everything up and then slotted then into place. Reconnected the battery and with fingers crossed fired it up. Much to my delight it came to life and everything seems to work. The finished product.....
