Spent some time on the tools today. I ordered a handbrake major service kit which came with everything to overhaul the handbrake so I fitted that today. Must confess I had some issues as it is the first time really putting the whole car together.
So I attempted to fit the handbrake shoes only to find that they fouled on the screw in wheel stud locking nuts. I thought the easiest solution would be to wind out as few of the studs as possible and sneak the shoe through. Undoing the studs is a pain of a job but I backed three out, put the shoe in only to realise there was no way possibe to do up the clip holding the shoes in place. Bugger. So I ended up pulling the axle which I was hoping to avoid. Then I had to reinstall the damn wheel studs. Side 2 went much smoother as I just pulled the axle straight up.
I experienced some issued with the rear brakes as it seems the shop who rebuilt the calipers didnt clean the sandblast media out of the rear caliper slides prior to greasing them and putting them together. Seemed like mostly just one side tbh. So I pulled them apart, washed them and regreased. All good.
The handbrake cable is off being shortened (a lot! ...) and should be sitting in Garry's sweaty hand already. Once that goes on I just need to get the brake lines sorted on the rear calipers and hang the reservoirs.
